My DD just had 20 ml from her bottle and has fallen asleep. How long can u keep it for. Will it still be okay left at room temperature for when she wakes up?
The ABA say that you can keep it at room temp for 6-8 hours if freshly expressed but if the child has started feeding it should be discarded. I used to keep it for an hour if she'd started feeding then throw out whatever is left after the hour. Sorry- I know it's like gold!!!
it can be left til the next feed - roughly 4 hourly. Breastmilk is much less likely to grow bacteria than formula. How much milk was in the bottle? On the other hand, what will your breasts do - you may find you have to feed at the breast to avoid engorgement
i kept it till she woke up but she wouldnt take it anyway. When i feel engorged she not hungry thats when i express. I have a wedding coming up and been trying to get her use to the bottle but she isnt keen on it. i offered her the breast when she wouldnt take the bottle and she latched on straight away..... i have a tommee tippee bottle that she has drunk from before, and avent but she doesnt seem to keen on them.
The bottle had 160ml in it and she left behind 140ml..... guess i will store it in smaller amounts....

I used to store it in 50ml lots - it reduced the wastage. Good thinking hun!
