feeding in a sling for baby with reflux? which sling?
I've always thought the idea of feeding bub in a sling would be pretty cool (read = i'm in awe of anyone who can feed and generally move around doing other stuff lol). Currently we're dealing with a refluxy baby and I'm thinking that another sling might be useful for two reasons - a) she wants to be upright a LOT and b) what if I could get one that would support her to feed in a semi (or even totally) upright position?
Currently I have only got an ergo with the infant insert... not really suitable for feeding as far as I can see.
Is it doable? Can anyone tell me what slings might work for this? I was kinda looking at sleepywraps and mei tais... but I haven't really tried anything wrap style thus far.
Also we're currently using nipple shields, I don't know if this would present any additional issues apart from the usual palaver of baby + shield + boob... but we're kinda used to that.
TIA, love to hear what worked for others (regardless of whether baby had reflux).
I had a bubba moe when bub was tiny and fed a few times in that. I found it hard to attach on the right side. I found it really helpful (basically just using the sling most of the time), I do family day care and found that by putting bub in the sling it freed up my hands to work with the children. It also gave me a little bit more privacy for feeding, although once the kids had seen me feed a few times the novelty wore off and they would go do their own things anyway.
Miss M also has reflux, so I found I could sit her up a little bit in the bubba moe probably making it less painful for her. We now have an ergo which she hates (more because it's confining and she wants to get down and run)
