    Finger Foods for <12mths

DD is under 12 months (nearly 11mth, so close!), but refuses to be fed. She's quite happy to feed herself, but try and give her a spoon and nope. Not happening.

I'm out of ideas on what to feed her. She'll eat just about anything, but she picks. What she'll eat yesterday, not today, but maybe another day through the week. Or feed her something you know she'll eat, and she'll eat bits of it. It's frustrating (and wasteful).

Any ideas on what I can feed her? It's pretty much got to be finger food.

I did blw with Chloe, so she's never had purees, finger foods only she basically has whatever we have (or modified versions of). Cut up fruit, cheese and crackers, toast or dry cereal, quiche, stir fry, sausages, rissoles with grated veggies in them, cut up veggies, avocado on Cruskits or Turkish bread. So pretty much anything lol

Just give her whatever you're having She'll help herself and learn to eat as she goes.

Mini quiches and home made sausage rolls (with grated veggies) were a hit with DD

    Hey!
I gave DD2 whatever we had plus things like
Pikelets, roast vegetables, peas, corn, broccoli, cauliflower etc
    Sandwiches, rice crackers, cooked pasta.
    Good luck!

If she's anything like Amelia, she'll love anything she can dip into something else Carrot/celery sticks with whatever kind of dip she might like...

I've done a naughty and given Amelia "googie eggs" with toast I'll let you use your own judgement on that, apparently soft-boiled eggs are a no-no until 18 months or something?

We just give anything we are eating, if is mushy just means more mess but DS and previously DD work out how to pick up pretty quick or if is really runny like soup they have toast or something to soak it up a bit. Porridge is a favorite and DS loves chasing it round the tray trying to pick up. DD fav was peas which are quite mess free / easy to pick up and she could pick them up by 8 months. They are quick to cook and easy to take out and about also.

Never heard the egg thing, soft boiled eggs with soldiers are all the rage here. Only 'rule' I stick to is no fresh honey prior to one year old, but that is pretty easy one anyway.

My DS(10mnths) eats everything we eat but I also just give him a selection at his snack mealtime too. For example he gets some toast with melted cheese (cut into pieces), some watermelon, some grated carrot, some steamed broccoli etc. I put it all on his highchair tray and he just eats what he likes. Actually he eats all of it because he has a fantastic appetite, which I hope lasts.

we just give DS whatever we're eating - we give him a little fork and/or spoon too, but he tends to just use his hands as often as not!! and he was completely disinterested in cutlery until around 14 months anyway ...

he'd even eat his yoghurt with his hands!

but we'd cook dinner, and whatever it was (pasta, meat and veg, curry, stirfry, snags and mash, whatever) we'd just give him some ... and he'd generally eat it with his hands.

    very messy, but very effective!

and as he got older, he started to use cutlery - probably just copying DH and me ...?
