    Help bub won't drink milk

    Hey all,
I'm currently caring for a 14 month old bub. He won't take his toddler formula or drink milk. He is drinking water and juice and eating very well. What can I do to get him to drink some milk? I'm not in a position to find out any info on him.

    Would appreciate any advice.

    Hi

I'm no expert by any means, but as far as I am aware, at that age as long as he is eating a good, balanced diet and getting plenty of fluids, toddler milk is not necessary at all. Nor I think is regular milk, if he is getting calcium somewhere else in his daily intake. Hth

Can you make a fruit smoothy? On cereal? Have you tried a different cup?

If dairy is ok for him, can you give cheese or yoghurt instead of milk

My ds won't drink milk either he does, however, love cheese and yoghurt and has milk on his weetbix. My mchn said this would be fine and just give him water for drinking

i agree with PP, don't stress too much about formula or getting him to drink milk - he's fine to get his calcium from other things like yoghurt & cheese. my DS isn't a big fan of plain milk either so i blend a banana with some milk & he loves that.

Same here... Love the idea of the bananna smoothie, gonna have to try that.

Thanks everyone for your replies, I have tried to flavor the milk a little but nope won't take it. I might try the smoothie idea and see how he goes. Thanks for the suggestions.

one thing i forgot to say - when i do the smoothie/milkshake i put it in a little plastic glass (that came with a dinner set someone gave us for DS) & put a straw in it. i think there's a bit of novelty factor in having it in a 'special' glass with a straw. not sure if it would have worked 4 months ago, but it could be worth a shot. fwiw, DS had no interest in milo when i tried putting a little in his milk so i went for something he likes to eat (banana) & that seemed to do the trick.

    good luck

Depending on how long your caring for the little man i wouldn't worry too much.
DD1 would have a little bit of milk on her cereal and that was it, she wasn't a big milk drinker unless we added banana etc but she was happy eating cheese and yoghurt.

Aslong as he's eating and drinking other things i wouldn't worry too much unless it's a long term thing and then i would try and find another way to supplement the dairy.
If you can try and stick with water, juice can be quiet high in sugar so is ok as an every now and then thing but not an all day everyday drink IYKWIM.

GL, hope you find something that works... maybe a nice cheese sandwich for lunch or some yoghurt would work just as well.
