I am trying to find a high chair for our 5 & 1/2 month old.
She is only a small wee poppet, and the ones we have tried all seem to have the tray at the height of her neck when she sits on the seat.
I am trying to find one that has lots of adjustment so it will last, and is also fairly sturdy.
And that has the tray height adjustment independent of the seat height adjustment (they all seem to move to 5, 6 or 7 different heights as a pair).
Also, would like good harness and preferably a detatchable "pommel" or strap (That thing in the middle that goes between their legs to stop them sliding out.
We have a steelcraft messina high low highchair. I cannot list any faults with it - it comes in all sorts of colours too. My DD is only small & I think she was sitting in it at about 6 months - when she started solids
we have a chicco polly and also have no issues.....it comes in a few different prints has an adjustable footrest and a recline function which we found great for when he was under 6 months or so just for sitting him in so he could be part of the family at dinner time and evn now use the recline if he has a bottl and is holding it himself.. It is also height adjustableetc etc.......I have not seen a chair where the table height is independentally adjustable....
I love my Boon Flair highchair! It has no stitching and is very easy to clean. It has a pneumatic lift to adjust the height of the chair and the tray comes up to my son's (11 month old) waist. It is a bit expensive but I absolutely love it!!!
i have the stokke! I LOVE IT! it is fully adjustable from newborn (there's a newborn attachment sooo cute!) right through to adulthood. comes in great colours and has full baby kit etc with the straps. i like it because they can sit at the table with you and is sturdy as.
We have an Ikea high chair. I liked it for that reason you say - the tray sits at chest height so it's perfect. The tray also comes off so they can be closer to the table with you. DD is little so I just used some folded handtowels behind her to start off with. We've had it since DS started sitting up to eat solids. He now sits in one of those portable seats that you attach to the chair.
We had a Steelcraft Messina too and put DD1 in it when she was 4 months old so she could sit a bit higher with everyone. I loved that it reclined, was soft and with the tray off was fabulous for her to look around. The only thing was when the girls got older and the food was a bit more adventurous I would find bits of stuff in all the folds and would be forever trying to clean it out.
A friend had an Ikea chair and it looked fantastic and practical and 100 times easier to clean.
We also have the Steelcraft Messina, love it! Easy to clean, recline, change height etc. Bub has been using it for about a month, she loves being wheeled around to watch whatever I'm doing, she won't sit in her bouncer anymore, I think she prefers being higher
We have a Peg-Perego Prima Papa Diner and the Ikea one.
We use the Peg-Perego for in the house and I love it!! The "pommel" is fixed to the chair so even when you take the tray off baby still won't slide away.
Also very easy to clean and has several recline settings as well. We have been using it since DS was around 6months and great for when your in the kitchen and they can be nice and high with you.
The Ikea chair is also fantastic!! Great for when you go away, great value and super easy to clean.
We use this more outside if DS is having lunch or dinner out on the deck.
