    2 years 8 months and it's over :(

So after 2 years and 8 months of BFing it's over

I'm now 10 weeks pg and have HG (Hyperemesis Gravidarum) So between not being able to get enough nutrients in for myself and the growing bub, a 6kg weight loss, and taking Zofarn and Restavit to try to battle the nausea and get me eating and drinking I've had to stop BFing. I just felt it wasn't good for DS to be getting any of the meds through the milk, what little was left anyway, and it was going to take too much out of me as well.

He was only having one or two feeds a day, morning and night, and sometimes not even every day. I'm sure it was mostly a comfort thing for him, but I still wasn't quite ready to stop. He doesn't ask too often for milk, but when he does I hate saying no. I try to distract him with something else, but I feel really crappy. I know it was probably the best thing for everyone to stop but I'm still sad it's over. I was really hoping he could wean himself when he was ready.

We were lucky to have such a good run with it though, and I am grateful for that

Great work at bf for so long, considering how unwell you have been & are. Your DS won't remember being told no ((hugs))

Im sorry you didnt get the final stage you'd have liked but what you 2 have achieved together is incredible Job well done! The fact that you have been feeding for the past 10 weeks with hg is amazing and you should be so proud of what you have given your DS. Here's to the next journey for you and your family

    Thanks ladies

Lily Dust we actually stopped about 4 weeks ago which was 2 years and 8 months, I've only just got back onto BB and decided to post about it. I only lasted until 6 weeks pg still feeding. It really hit me last night when I saw my BFing ticker and changed it to a pregnancy one, it's really all over

He had a good start with 2 years 8 months I think

Yay! An awesome gift you have given your little boy. Just 5% of australian babies are still being breastfed at 2 years of age, so maybe 2 or 3% at 2 years, 8 months.
Enjoy having your breasts to yourself for a few months.
