Hair dye and breast feeding?

can you dye your hair when BF?ng inkow they suggest you dont whils pg and i read somewhere that the chemicals in hair dye are present in urine 10mins but how long does it stay in your system for???

Depending on what you get done, it's fine for pregnancy and breastfeeding. I know that if you get foils the dye isn't actually on the scalp - or is so minimal there is no risk, so I had my hair done all through pregnancy and while breastfeeding. If you are concerned maybe express before hand - I would imagine that if you had it done and then fed say a few hours later if there was any in your system it would clear out -same as if you had a glass of red etc Might be different if you have the dye all over your scalp for a long time, but even then I would think the affect would be minimal and you could still feed after a few hours. ..... yer i want my roots d oing so would be on my scalp and i used organic hair dye wgilst preg but the costs me 100 a go and dries my hair out was curious when i could go back to my packet mix......amm thinking if i dye straight after a feed then will have time between them....hmm will keep researching

I'm a hairdresser i've never heard anything about you can't while pregnant or breastfeeding. I got mine done with both. The colour doesn't make it into your blood stream so it's fine.
