Is this normal or does it indicate a problem?

DD3 has a new trick it seems.

Whilst feeding she pushes into my boob with her fist and pulls back on the nipple at the same time. The whole feed. It doesn't particularly hurt but it doesn't feel very nice either...lol

Is it normal or is she trying to tell me that I've got no milk or something? I wouldn't worry if she only did it the last few minutes of the feed (feeds are pretty short anyway) but doing it the whole feed?

I would agree with the let down thing.. Maybe you could give your boobies a little massage downwards to get the milk flowing a little easier as you attach or when she is on

The great thing about proper breastfeeding necklaces is that you can be guaranteed that there is nothing toxic in the paint (so they can suck/chew on them if they want) and that the string will not break and send beads flying around that little people can put in their mouth or choke on.

You can encourage her to pat instead of push in if you want, or play with her hand so she doesn't do it. It's ok to change things if they don't feel nice.

Hmmm I probably should have mentioned it continues after let down... LOL
My let down takes about a minute and she can get a little impatient, but the whole bullying starts after it.. LOL

C has started doing this too! I just hold her hand through most feeds now lol. It has only started since she started teething......

The actual feed is a process of let-down, flow, trickle, next let down, etc. Sounds as though she doesn't like the trickle bit and is trying to get the next letdown to happen more quickly.
Very normal, though rather annoying.

yep normal and when DS would do this and it was becoming painful I would try and distract him in some way.... each time would be different, hold his hand, give him something to hold onto etc...

DS2 has just gone through this too. It hurts! The good news is that he is doing it less often now than he was a month ago.

DD used to knead like a cat pretty much the whole feed. I think it's their way of keeping the milk going and keeping themself entertained.

mine does this too... also pinches and pulls hair etc etc... lol

he now has a feeding teddy, only one of his teddies seems to distract him the whole feed
