Peppermint Tea?

I love peppermint tea. But I know it can affect mu milk supply. So how many cups per day would it take before my milk would be affected? I know it can dry up my milk and thats the last thing I want to happen, so I want to be able to enjoy my tea but also be aware of how much is too much potentially.

I'm not sure hun, but my LC told me not to touch it, so I haven't with either of the boys.

At this stage you have a pretty well established milk supply - it shouldn't make much difference. I drank a couple of cups a day with no noticeable effect. If you see a change then you can always stop - your supply will fix itself.

Thats what I thought Kmn, but I have a tendancy to get carried away with my peppermint tea, and dont want to realise when its too late. I may just stick to one or two a day just to be safe.

I've had 1-2 a day (occasionally 3, but only once or twice) up til 12 months with no problems. I stopped when I got pregnant though, as I was concerned about supply then.

If you do do two a day, then jus maybe have no other peppermint that day, no essential oils, mint lollies etc.

Yeah MadB I only heard about the tea bit this week. It really explained why after I had my peppermint binge, DD3 had a really bad day afterwards. She wasnt happy with feeds and wanted to feed every half hour or more. Thats why I was curious as to how many before effects can be seen. I really dont want to have a binge again
