    Questions about multi-grain bread.

    Hi all,

    I was wondering:
    1) Why is it recommended that you don't give babies or toddlers multi-grain bread?
    2) At what age can you give children multi-grain bread?

    TIA.

Oh I've never heard of that one. Multigrain bread is the only bread we eat so DS has been having it since about 9 months. The grains just show up in his nappy.

Same...we only ever have multigrain, I find it lasts a lot longer than white bread.

And duh..I've just realised what the little black seeds are that keep coming out in DD's poo...lol. I was wondering what they were thinking she hasn't eaten anything with seeds like that in it..but must be from the bread!

My health nurse recommended multi grain over white, as it was less likely to form a big clump and be chocked on.....

I'm sure I was told that you are not supposed to give babies multi-grain bread so I've been giving DD wholemeal, but recently I started giving her multi-grain and couldn't work out what would be wrong with giving it earlier?

[M]umma[M]ia - I did wonder if the reason was because it could be a choking hazard but the grains are SO tiny they surely couldn't present a choking hazard.

Has anyone else been told not to give their babies bread with grains in it? Now I wonder why I was told that?
