Really need some advice :(

DD just had a MASSIVE spew. I've never seen her be sick ever and there was loads of it. She's had the odd chuck but nothing of this volume.

A few things I am thinking may have contributed and I just want some advice:

She had her immunisations yesterday and is running a temp today (38 degrees) and just isn't herself.
We are doing BLS and she was eating some watermelon - gagged a bit (but not much) and threw the watermelon off the side of the high chair - enough now mummy, thanks.

Do you think I should stop with the solids for a couple of weeks and see what happens? Or just see how she goes today and then continue as usual tomorrow?

I got really upset when she was sick, I'm not coping all that well today, she is usually so happy and bubbly and seeing her like this is really not nice. Although, I have to add that she is much brighter now that she has vomited.

Sorry for the rambly post, need to go and shower us both, she spewed everywhere.

How long has she been on solids?

I would say it's more likely to be from the immunisations than anything else.

I agree with Sally, that it was the immunisations to blame rather than the solids.

Neither of mine deal particularly well with them and I can always count on a spew or a temp (or both).

Poor chicken, hope she's feeling better soon.

Most likely the immunisations, BUT I did once know a little guy who always vomited, buckets and buckets of vomit, anytime he had watermelon. One kid, out of the hundreds I've met in my life. So it could be either.

Ride it out til she's well, see a doc if she's not getting better (hard in Brissie on a Friday arvo, I know!) and maybe hold off giving watermelon for a week or so, then see what happens.

As the saying goes babe "Food is fun until I'm one!"... while she is breastfed, and until she is one, she is just learning to taste and eat food. It doesnt really how much she eats, or doesnt eat, if she is keeping up with her breast feeds... your doing great!! Just try her with bits when you are BOTH ready!!!

My bubs were always sick and off for a couple of days after vac's.. if shes picking up, she sounds fine.. but if she keeps throwing up, take her back to the clinic or doc for check over... it always pays to be safe, and it keeps mums sanity!!!

Just watch her carefully, you'll know if she is actually unwell, or getting better... xoxoxo

I would say it was the immunisations for now too, but agree you should hold off on the watermelon for a little while jic. Hope it's just a one off thing. FWIW dd1 was a chucker and I always wondered where it all came from.

Yep, I'd definately say it was the immunisations. I saw your other thread this morning, my DS has also been one to react to the immunisations and TBH the odd vomit isn't unheard of. But if you're worried give your GP a call (I have a couple of times after the needles), just to put your mind at ease, more than anything. Hope she improves soon hun

Thank you so much everyone, I'm such a drama queen. I just put her in the sling and she fell asleep straight away so we just paced the house for a while and she's in bed now asleep.

On reflection, I think that the spew was coming before she even had the watermelon - half an hour before that she went down for a nap but kept waking up crying, so I took her to the kitchen and popped her in her chair. I think that the crying was linked to feeling sick, she had a little suck on the watermelon then started gagging and crying and I took her out of her chair and that is when she spewed all over the both of us. Poor wee cherub

I need to toughen up hey? She's going to be more sick than this at some point I'm sure!

Thanks again, I'll just keep b/f and try her with some toast in the morning as usual. See how she is.

Don't be silly thats what bb is for, talking to mums who have been there before. I freaked the first time dd had such a huge vomit.

far from drama queen i would say..
i think we all go through those stages and scare ourselves too..
i would say most prob immunisation too.. my kids never handled them well at all neither...

Thanks everyone, I have my happy bubba back today! She had a marathon sleep last night - slept from 7pm till 6.20am with only 2 feeds in the night!

Yay for happy bubba being back! Glad she's alright today hun.

I've just had gastro through here, it was horrible - one day DD throwing up everywhere (and in a 19mth old that is not pretty!!!), all over herself and me and the couch and floor... Which I then had to clean up by myself with DS screaming because he was tired and needed to be rocked to sleep...

Then DS got it and we had milk vomit fountains... Ew! So much chuck from such a little person!
