    Returning to work/breastfeeding

I'll be returning to work early Feb and my DS2 will be 11months by then (gosh i hadn't thought of that yet!!!!) I currently have a small supply of ebm in the freezer but i am trying to get my head around the best way to continue with the feeds while i'm at work.

I'll only be working two days a week and at the moment am trying to get my head around if i should...

    a) bake/eat lots of cookies and try and get more of a store up in the freezer for DS?

    or

    b) supplement those two day feeds that he'll be missing with yoghurt/cheese/dairy until i get home and can feed him? Was told that it was possible to do this

Just wondering if there is a preferable choice for his age and for his nutritional needs right now??

    Thanks

I'm pretty sure both are doable, it's what suits you.
When I returned with DD I pumped about 1/2-1hour after most feeds for the month prior and stored that, then I was still able to pump at work so that worked for us for about 9 months after I started back at work.

One of the other girls in DD's baby buddy group is a teacher and would just leave water and solids and then feed her little guy as much as he wanted when she went to pick him up/got home.

Both worked successfully for a long time.

Good on you for being organised! I returned to work last week with one bottle pumped! I would say at 11 months you have options, he could certainly cope without his milk, I'd play it be ear. My DS (10 months) rejected the EBM and formula last week and survived pretty much on water. This week he has agreed to eat (phew!) and finally had some EBM from his cup.

I have found that DS is really making up for the boob he's missing out on when I get home and during the night (we cosleep), in fact I suspect he is drinking more milk - stocking up for the next day just in case!

    Good luck for Feb!

Sorry been meaning to come and thank you for my replys ladies

Your replys helped me get my head around what i will try and do i think. DS2 is currently attending care on a tue to get him used to the idea and the surroundings. I have a small supply of EBM in the freezer and for the next 2 tuesdays (not many) i'll express. Hopefully i'll get a few more chances to express and get a supply of milk for the month of feb and then in March he'll be 12 months and i'll give him cow's milk.

That way i'll still be offering him something while i'm not around and then as soon as we get home i'll feed him. I want to continue to feed him for a good few months yet so hopefully this will work and not have any adverse effects on our feeding. Idealy i'd love to give him ebm longer than that but i'm not sure how i'll go with the constant expressing... I hadn't planned on expressing at work but it'd be possible if i had to. We'll see how we go.

    Thanks again for you help
