hun its your placenta leaving your body that triggers the milk
remember some women tandem feed or feed a little one whilst they are preggers
so relax and enjoy!!

This may seem like a VERY silly question to those in the know, I'm sure in a few years I'll be an old hat at BFing info, but at the moment I'm not so clued in. Is it possible to compromise my colostrum before bubs is born, as in, turn it from colostrum to milk or anything like that?
I've been leaking since about 16 weeks, it used to be completely clear, then a bit yellowy, now it's clear with a milky tinge. *TMI coming up* During foreplay DF sucks on and stimulates my nipples. Lately, he has been able to get a half mouthful of 'milk', (probably for a few months now) and even more recently he has said the taste has changed, that it's sweeter now and actually tastes similar to milk. But it's still colostrum, right? I'm freaking out like an idiot worrying that it's actual milkMight be a silly thing to think, but eh, I'm not sure. He only ever gets a small amount then it stops. It doesn't happen that often (no libido lol). I think I'll tell him to stop anyway, but can someone reassure me that we haven't done something bad?

Nothing that comes out of your boobs is going to be bad for your baby. Relax![]()
i fed dd1 all through my pregnancy with dd2, she would comment on the change of taste etc throughout. im pretty sure you cant do any harm! i say keep enjoying what your doing....DF will have to get in line soon enough![]()
just what everyone else said. =)
if you really wanted you can express what you have and keep it, put it in the freezer, and have it ready for when bub is born. so if god forbid something were to happen that you werent able to feed bub straight after birth (and i really hope it doesnt!!!) but then you have some colostrum there that even your DF can give bub. (i recommend this to women who are planning on having a csec for example and there may be delayed skin to skin etc for some reason)
I always say you cant have too much and good to have that backup there...on the other end of things you dont need it and thats just as good =)
Thanks ladies! I have no clue how to express though! Sometimes I pinch my nipples and a few drops trickle out? Lol.
I'm glad I'm not ruining the milk for bubs or anything like that. It didnt even cross my mind about about BFing mums while pregnant![]()
I expressed whilst we were waiting to have a c/s, as bub was preterm and I didn't want anyone feeding him formula. My IM did for me. It was a bit ouchy, but it was fascinating to fill up the little specimen cup. Apparently I had a lot
The ABA book explains how to express.
btw - my colostrum changed a bit too, from yellow and thick, to white and thin back to yellow again.
