Sippy cup for BF'ed 6mo? (& woo hoo!)

Now my DD is 6 mo I was going to try her on a sippy cup . She's never had a bottle and only ever fed successfully with nipple shields. Various suggestions I've heard are to skip the bottle entirely and go straight to a sippy cup instead. I plan to only give her one or two feeds from it per week as I really don't want to impact our BF'ing (I plan to express the feeds she misses).

She's a quick feeder & only feeds 4 times a day (only spent 30 mins total on boob in 24 hrs the other day!), so I feel like a quick feed won't bother her that much.

Any suggestions as to which sippy cups might work best for a little one?

And yes, we have our 6 month woo hoo! I'm still waving the flag for anyone out there who had major problems feeding their first... we're proof that the second can be a TOTALLY different relationship
(AND I'm still donating some EBM too yaaaaay).

You rock hun - you know that don't you!??

I think go straight to it - no reason why not really. At 6 mths most people introduce a sippy cup of water with solids so why not BM instead! Try it and see how she goes, your bf'ing is pretty well established now so it should be fine!!

Woo hoo on 6 months hun. That is such fantastic news. I know there were times you didn't think you'd make it - that's a true success story. Would you consider posting in the success stories thread here - https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...tories-65375/? It is a great way to inspire others who are having a hard time.

I think any sort of sippy cup will do. With DS1 I did lots of research and spent a fortune on the most recommended sippy cups to try. He ended up drinking from any cup he was offered. Then DS2 started on the cheap disposable supermarket ones as that was what was there when he was thirsty one day. Lesson learnt on buying the expensive cups!

    Good Luck!

Congratulations, 6 months is a fantastic effort. Well done to both you and your DD

With the sippy cups, it was pretty much trial and error with DD. I just kept buying them until I found one that she could easily use, and would actually drink most of her milk from. And like MantaRay said, my DD also prefers the disposable ones, think they are called Take and Toss from memory.

Congrats again, and good luck with the cups
