    Well it's official...

... This old jersey cow is all dried up

I have suspected it for a week or so now, but after my mum baby sat DS for us last night and after not having any boobie for almost 24 hours there is in no way shape or form any milk left in the ol' girls. So, I can pretty well say it's official.

I feel proud that we got to 16 months, but sad we didn't make it further. Ds still has one "comfort suck" a day for his day nap so my boobie snuggles haven't been cut cold turkey but I feel a bit useless not having anything "real" to offer him in there.

Not to mention he's had a cold for a week now he's having trouble shaking which the boobie juice could have helped with!

I guess there is only so much the body can make at once, tho.

You did SO SO SO well. 16 months is a massive achievement. I really do understand your feelings, I had supply troubles and DD started refusing me as soon as I fell pregnant too. I felt disappointment and sadness especially when DD then got a cold that she STILL has now 4 months later THe booby juice is some good stuff! So congrats again - I think you are awesome.

Yay for all that breastmilk you've given him...just think of the litres and litres you have made for him. As for feeding while pg, my dd kept up the feeds and was happy to take whatever was there...including colustrum. She came back with gusto when ds was born...so you never know, it might not be over just yet!

Congrats Helle - you did 10 months more than me!

Its a bit emotional when it comes to an end though isn't it? I think though that 16 months is awesome, I hope to get to that timeframe if we have baby #2

Congrats on giving your DS an awesome start in life with the booby juice!

My DS weaned when I was pregnant too. It was sad, but I was also glad he ended up choosing when to wean - it was gradual, peaceful end to our breastfeeding relationship. 16 months is an awesome achievement - you should be very proud.

I agree with a pp that it might not be over yet. Your boobie snuggles ARE that something real that you have to offer. Breastfeeding is about so much more than just milk. My Ds kept up snuggly feeds during pg even tho after the first tri the letdown was gone and we were left with dribbles of colostrum (his nappies were evidence of this! Lol) and then he happily drank the milk again once Dd was born.

I would keep up the snuggly feed. You definitely still have lots to offer if not abundant milk

    *hug*
