Supply very different from one boob to another...

So DS is almost three weeks old and in the last few days my right boob has gotten ginormous and the left not at all. I feed from one side the switch to the other and at the next feed start with the one I finished with. I decided to express last night and got 30ml from the left and 80 from the right.

Even though I am feeding over night from both boobs the right is huge again in the morning.

I just don't want to get mastitis. Any ideas on what I can do? Or is it common to have such 'odd' boobs??

My boobs were "odd" for the entire time while breastfeeding and it took ages for my left boob to get to the same size as my right once he weaned!

Like you I offered the left first then the right first at different feeds. He always seemed to prefer my left, but I'm left handed and I read somewhere that baby's are more secure on the side that you favour - don't know if that's true or not but it seemed to be true for us.

Sometimes I felt like he would only drink a little from my right and then get stuck into the left when I offered that one. Even when he would completely drain both breasts - the left would always seem to be fuller.

I think our boobs are fated to remain a mystery and I just accepted that one would always be bigger.

I now have two matched (albeit slightly saggy) boobs of the (relatively) same size!!

I'm not sure he it is common but one of the girls in DS1's baby buddies group only had one working bomb. She bf exclusively until she introduced solids. Just keep offering both sides and you should be fine.

I had odd boobs too, it's quite common. DD favoured my left and it always seemed to have more milk than my right. My left was her favourite through our entire BF journey.

just wanted to re assure you that it sounds pretty normal! mine were (And still are to some extent) the same, my right is smaller and doesnt get at all engorged when DS misses a feed, but my lefty OMG!

Thanks girls for the Reassurance about my odd boobs. Well 10 dYs after my first post and I have been able to express 10 from my left side and 130 from the right, the left is getting worse even though it's always offered and DS drinks from it eCh feed. I could have even expressed more from the right.

I guess i might be destined to not be ableto feed from the left At this rate I won't have any supply on the left in another week or so.
