    Talking whilst feeding... Help!

Over the last couple of days dd has started 'talking' whilst feeding. So she is babbling and carrying on all the way up until let down starts and she starts 'talking' again as soon as let down finishes. It's driving me batty. At best it tickles like crazy at worst it hurts. And feeding in general has been painful the last couple of days so I'm starting too feel like perhaps all this chatting is starting to damage my nipples. I pull her off every time she starts but all it's meant is I've had to pull her off a thousand times in the last 2 days. As soon as I put her back on she starts again. She didn't have a nap at all today because I couldn't bear to have her attached long enough to fall asleep. Need ideas to stop it. It may sound cute but my nipples don't agree.

What about if you sing to her while your waiting for the letdown, distraction technique not sure if it will work but worth a try???

Anyone??? Distraction didn't work. She just thought it was a big game and then biting came into play.

My DD did that luckily for me it didn't hurt too much so I just ignored it and it didn't last long - it doesn't sound like that is an option for you? Does she do every feed - if there are feed's that she doesn't is there something about those feeds you can replicate (e.g. dark, she is sleepier, different position, hungrier?)

I would pull her off until she stopped, then would let her back on. If she started again then I would pull her off again. It didnt take long for her to get the message (talk to mummy anytime but not when feeding time). She would laugh in the beginning at it but after a few days (I would love to say feeds, but I'll be honest! ) she stopped doing it.

yeah, i think it's one of those times when you need to set boundaries. It'll take a bit of time, but I'd do as bb suggests. Try saying: Time for milk (or whatever you call it), not talking, or somethign like that

I have been pulling her off each time and so far we have had two days without a nap because she hasn't fed long enough to fall asleep. Little poo. I don't think today was as bad. Maybe she is slowly getting the message.
