    Question Tea & Toddlers

Just wondering if anyones LO drinks tea?
Someone told me that chamomile tea is actually quite good for LO's and as you don't add milk or sugar your not hyping them up.

DD1 is 20mths old (nearly) and often has a warm milo in the morning (no added sugar) but is constantly trying to sip at my tea, i have just started drinking GREEN TEA to try and be a little healthier and was wondering if it would be ok for her to try it and maybe have it once a week with breakfast on cold days?

I am not sure as i know tea has caffeine and i don't want to be giving her huge amounts of things like that.

Any advice would be great... TIA.

Chammomile doesn't have caffeine in it just green. Not sure about then drinking it, mine don't but I have been known to add it to the bath water (chammomile ) when ds is constipated

Chammomile is great for anyone to drink - cold or hot as it is calming and like Pandora said it doesn't contain caffiene. I know poeple who also put in the baths to soothe minor skin irritations and help calm LO before bed

My DS loves drinking my tea. I get Rooibos Tea which is African tea. Rooibos tea contains no colors, additives or preservatives, making it a natural beverage. It contains no caffeine.Studies also show that this tea contains anti - spasmodic agents, which can relieve stomach cramping and colic in infants.
I still have it with milk like normal tea and it pretty much tastes the same but a bit sweeter and no way near as strong as normal tea.

DD who is 2.5 will drink green tea but i make it up in a big pot with a tiny amount of sugar and the equivilant of 1-2 tea bags. (i use the tea leaves in one of those strainer thingys) No milk or anything. Its good for metabolism, wind and general wellbeing especially when you have a cold. I heat some up in the mornings every now and then for her otherwise every couple of days she has it cold.

DD1 loves to sit down with me in the mornings and have a cup of tea. I don't drink tea much, only about half a cup a day, and DD1 only drinks about a 1/3. We just have the ordinary stuff here.

DS has a "cup of tea milk" with me every morning but it is really just milk warmed in the microwave. I prefer him not to have real tea because of the caffeine.

I second the Rooibos, it is a lovely tea and I find it works well for us as it is good with milk as well as black so DD (2.5yrs) thinks she is being just like me when I make it for her! (Well she is being just like me when I drink it too!!)

When I'm in a rush and making a tea with a tea bag, I make a small weak version for DD by dipping my used tea bag in a bit of water in her cup for a brief sec just to colour the water. Then she adds milk and is very happy with herself.

I have another tea drinker. She loves it and has had it since she could hold a proper cup herself. She even has her own china teacup. She gets all of about 50mls and two dips of tea bag that is then watered down, but I didn't think there was a huge amount of caffeine in tea.

My DS has tea on occasion. I prefer to make him a milo without sugar, but if I don't have any I'll let him have some tea. More so he doesn't take mine, lol. I buy normal tea, but he only has it about once a month.
A friend has a range of tea in her cupboard, including decaf, green & camomile. Her DS & my DS often have a cuppa together while we enjoy our coffee's

Thank everyone, i might buy some chamomile and give it a go myself and she can have some, she likes her milo or warm milk in the morning but i wouldn't mind giving her a variety and then maybe every now and then some green tea wont hurt her.
I can just do mine and then poor some off and water it down, my younger brothers LOVE green tea hot or cold and even take ti to school in their drink bottle... lol they are 7 & 9 though.

Hi everyone, i have a tea conosieur (not sure if that is spelt right i am on night shift and brain not so good at night, LOL) at home, my DD1 has always loved tea since she was about 12 months or so. She has a variety and she will tell you what she wants-
Honey lemon- which is water, honey and lemon
Milk tea- which is sri-lankan tea leaves with milk (we limit this one as it has caffeine in it she isn't allowed to have it before bed and only once a day)
    Green tea
    Peppermint tea

    She loves it!!!!
DH makes two cups now, one for her and one for him but DD2 who is now 15months has discovered it too so now he has to share with her as well!!
I dont really drink tea except peppermint tea when i have an upset tummy so he is the tea maker!

We by the liptons Strawberry, raspberry and cranberry fruit infusion tea, which doesnt have any caffeine in it and the kids will often have that, especially when they want a warm drink but are snotty so off the milk. I find it good because it has a bit of flavour to it but not all of the sugar of juice or cordial.

We have proper tea on the weekend and DD1 has her own china cup which she has her tea in. She has about 1/4 cup filled with tea and then topped up with milk. She normally doesn't finish it. I'm not worried about that small amount of caffeine as I think a piece of chocolate would have more in it than that. Plus she only has it on the weekend.
