So I've always tended to lean towards engorgement most of the time. A few weeks ago I woke up for basically the first time with soft breasts and I figured my supply was starting to settle. But since then it's been bouncing between severe engorgement and soft breasts. I'll have a couple of days of engorgement, a couple of not. On my engorgement days my boobs are as hard as rockmelons. Feeds last 5-10 mins, dd is settled during thee day though she struggles with the flow and chokes a lot. On the days they are soft, dd is unsettled all day long, feeds last 30-40m, she gets frustrated because let down is so much slower and I notice her horrible latch very much because it hurts so much more when they are engorged. I just don't understand why its bouncing from one to the other. Why can't it just settle. She's 5 months old. It's seriously frustrating me.
It almost seems as though Piper is overcompensating. Or wanting much more on some days than others - and your supply is one day out of synch.
I don't know how to fix it though - other than seeing if she will settle without feeding on the soft days sometimes, which doesn't sound really promising.
