    It's time

    Hi everyone

After what will be 14 months, it's time to put my bra on lock and say goodbye to b/f . I didn't really set myself a time limit - my mum couldn't b/f so we weren't sure if I could, so at the beginning one day was a bonus. DD and I had a rough start with horrible bleeding nipples but got through it, and got past the biting stage (oh bless) without too much drama. I've gradually been dropping feeds and now we're only on one evening feed, before bed which I'm planning to say goodbye to this weekend and using the distraction of DH and I going out for dinner.

I feel sad that the time has come. DD is so totally restless when she's feeding, wriggling about everywhere, and its just not comfortable. She seems to still enjoy it, but has dropped the other feeds so effortlessly, that I think she's going to be fine.

I feel proud that I've managed to do it for all this time. I've been strict with myself - I haven't had an alcoholic drink since TTC over two years ago! I don't touch coffee and I've avoided caffenated drinks too.

So on Saturday, I'm going to go out for dinner, have a glass of wine and hope that I don't come crashing down in a heap the next day!

Well done on your bfing achievement! I hope you enjoy your celebratory glass of wine. You did better than me, I stopped avoiding wine (although only a glass at a time) from about 12 mths...

Well I did it and now I'm sad. But I did have that glass of wine!

Our last feed was Friday night, got through Saturday okay and DD went to sleep for my mum and slept through the night so all was good there. But yesterday the tenderness started and I've expressed a couple of times, only minimal, to just try and get comfortable, had a hot shower, massaged (sorry TMI). Last night was AWFUL. DD cried and cried and in the end, I was crying and feeling terrible and guilty and sore. Handed her over to DH, went and hid in the ensuite for a while, came out and she was asleep in DH's arms. Put her to bed, and I cried and cried some more. DH was great, just listened to me, told me I'd done a great job and it was okay for me to stop if that's what I wanted. This morning I've gotten up, snappy at DH, on to the panadol for the tenderness.. I feel so stupid about being sad. This was my decision that I've come to over a few months. I wondered how i would feel, and now that I know it really sucks.

Corelly. I hope the tenderness eases today. Keep expressing in the shower by hand, just a little to ease your discomfort.
