Woohoo hun, that's great to hear!! The trend is upwards and that's important. It sounds like your Mummy instincts are spot on with your DD and it's good to hear the nurse is supportive of your efforts.
Just a quick update....DD had another weekly weigh today and she gained 130g which is great. So we're just continuing as is.
The other exciting news is that we seem to have made heaps of progress with attachment. I am starting to wean DD off the shields and she is going really well and actually preferring it I think. She was getting really frustrated a couple of days ago on my slower side and I just thought, right, its now or never...bit the bullet and took the shield off and it didn't hurt. AT ALL. And she gulps away now, she gets a nice rhythmic suck, swallow going and keeps up well. So its got to be better for my supply and I'm really pleased overall....I thought we'd be using shields for a long time. So it just took some time for her to grow, practice, and probably some time for my nipples to get used to it all too. Its not 100% perfect every feed, but we're getting there.
Thanks for all your support and being such a great sounding board for me, its really helped reinforce the right things for us to do.
Yay on the weight gain and the no-nipple-shieldness!! I can't believe how far you've come and how well you're doing. You are going to be a wealth of information for many other mums.
Absolutely awesome news hun what a great gain WTG Heidi!!!!
About the shields, with DD1 she continued to cause pain until 5 1/2 months, but DD2, we are completely pain free breast feeding
