    Boob scrunching! Ow!

DS is exploring everything with his hands and I get that but how do I stop the boob scrunching ?! It really hurts, especially when his nails aren't trimmed!!

The last week or so he's been grabbing my boob when feeding and making a fist with my boob in his hand. It really hurts.
I've tried saying no, patting his hand and taking it away, but this just made it more of a game and he did it more!
    Any tips?

No tips, just a lot of empathy - I have a scruncher too. I've tried prying her hands away but she just gets upset I won't let her do what she wants

My girl used to do this when she was younger as well. It would drive me crazy and made me really get angry feeding her (her nails would actually leave marks and draw blood)

The ONLY thing that got her to stop was putting on the ugliest plastic necklace (long) you could imagine. Instead of scrunching - she'd play with the beads while drinking.

My DD does this and pinches. I just try to hold her hand or redirect her to my top etc.

DS does this, I'd give him the clip on my bra to play with and he's pretty happy with that, sometimes though he just wants a good scrunch.

Chuck a sock on the offending hand. Only thing that ever worked for us.

Now, though, she's a nipple twiddler. It doesn't hurt (most of the time) it's just annoying!

DS does that to DH when he's holding him without a shirt on. I take evil delight in it

Lucy still does this to me and I hate it. There was a moment there that I considered stopping BFing because the scrunching/pinching/scratching was getting to be too much. Thankfully she isn't too bad now. I just have to control her hands AND a breastfeeding necklace helps loads. I just got a big, beaded necklace from Diva for her to play with.

Both my DS's have been scrunchers and. Oppose twiddlers!! DS 2 is 15 months and will keep ferreting away with his hand until he finds the opposite boob to grab onto!!!

Oops, spelling was awful. Scrunchers and nipple twiddlers it was meant to say!

True story! I visited a buddhist grotto in China and there carved on the rock wall thousands of years ago was a drawing of a child (maybe 4) breastfeeding whilst with the other hand twiddling his mother's other nipple. Made me cringe!
I second the feeding necklace idea. other than that - calm persistence in teaching them it's not appreciated. They get the message, eventually.

My sympathies, my dd is a scruncher too -drives me batty. Distraction works most of the time, she seems happy to just get one good one in then play with my hand or shirt. She has tried to pinch my other nipple, but thankfully gave that up after a couple of feeds. Wonder why they do it?
