Wow... seriously!? Oskar thinks that BFing is absolutely and totally NORMAL... he comments on it and tells other people that Elijah has "pa" (that's what he calls it lol).
Kaileysmummy... you can actually, with some work on your behalf, establish BFing even now if you wanted to ;)

I just wanted to say, good on you for considering that next time :clap: I think it shows how far you've come and how much info you've taken on at BB to consider BFing or expressing as a possibility for future children. I love reading comments like that, really makes me smile!
I feel really silly for being so stubborn when it came to BF. As said by my oldest friend yesterday "while formula is good in theory i dont think i could be bothered making up bottles when i could just lift up my shirt! plus its free!":

Is it hard to establish BF now? I'm not sure if i want to or might just wait until next time. I am happy with my decision but i feel stupid that i didnt atleast try..

Don't feel stupid. You made a decision armed with the info you had at the time; everybody learns and grows (my mum reckons that's what a first born is for, to test out what works and doesn't lol). If you want to bf next time, or even express, you have a lot more info and support at your disposal, iykwim?:
If it wasn't for BB I'd feel like the only woman on the planet to be breastfeeding!
Many of my friends have had babies all within the last year and I was disapointed to be the only mumma who was determined to BF no matter what. Not one of my friends even tried, claiming they dont have time or why bother when there is formula available. Then they all get uppity when there is any talk of breatmilk being better than formula.
Then I get the comments that my baby must be behind because he is not as heavy as theirs & that I should supplement him with formula or start him on solids!! I find it so hard not to lash out! Hello... breastfed babies dont get fat! I wish they had seperate weight charts for BF & FF babies as they dont gain on the same scale after 3months, sigh.
I feel sad for them and their bubs that they are missing out on a beautiful thing, which is of course also convenient & free! I can sympathise that it can be hard at times, my lil guy has been a nighmare feeder sometimes and had me in tears, but not once have I contemplated shoving a bottle in his mouth. Each to their own of course, but I cannot see how BF is anything but normal and the most natural thing of all for a growing bubba.

Don't feel stupid (easier said that done though, right?). We all do the best we can for our bubs with what we've got and what we know at the time.
I have heard of people starting to bf or express a while after babies have been born, but haven't had any first hand experience - but I'm sure the ABA would be able to give you information and assistance with it :D
or theres some lactation specialists who are on BB who could probably steer you in the right direction as well.

This will prob make people think Im silly but Im so OVER all the baby dolls out there coming with bottles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is where it all starts! Giving many the frame of mind that 'bottle' is 'normal' ffs no wonder many mothers dont see the normality of it. Every bottle that has come with dolls in this house is thrown out!
I know it sounds harsh but really its pathetic that they do. My friend bought this beautiful baby for Lucy and it came with a bottle, I have't thrown that one out, its on top of the fridge;)
I had my step sister (10yrs) ask "When will Lucy have a bottle"??? I said "She will never have one, as she has me!"
Sorry, harsh WHATEVER, Im over it!
And with 2 little women to raise and teach I want to make it quite clear to them what is 'normal', sometimes not achieveable but YES NORMAL!

I agree on the issue of dolls coming out with bottles! I dont have any girls yet so no dolls in our house but I will do the same thing when the time comes.
I have two boys and am raising both of them with a clear understanding of why breastfeeding is the best option for every baby.
Kaileys Mummy- When I was pregnant the midwives talked to us about the option of my partner being able to BF also, even though she has never had a baby. It was all about using a breast pump to stimulate & get the milk flowing which would have taken a couple of months. We chose not to do it... but I'm guessing because you have recently had a baby it wouldnt take as long for your milk to come back if you really wanted to try it. Otherwise dont stress about it, education is the key & for your next bub you will be well prepared to give it a go! :)

I also had someone ask me the other day when my DD would have a bottle it was' Is Hannah on the bottle yet?' I didnt know what to say ..she will never be on the bottle, we do not bottle feed our DD.
Just say, why use a bottle when I have fully loaded boobies?! :lol::

My son already has two dolls... I don't see dolls as a toy just for girls. I agree I wouldn't buy a doll with a bottle.:
There are ads for a new hollywood movie around with a couple raising a baby and EVERY still shot I have seen has a bottle in it!
We have no baby or doll bottles in this house, all dolls and teddy bears are breastfed. My boys are starting to realise that they can't breastfeed now, so mid game I will often be passed a teddy and told it needs fed and nobody else has boobs :lol:
I would also tell people that we are skipping the bottle stage and going straight to a cup. I would also mention how lucky I am that I don't have to worry about sterilising bottles etc.... :D:
She is soooo right KM. With Joshua I BF to 5 1/2 months then bottle and I tell you boobs are WAY easier in every respect. I don't have added cost and/or work for myself (washing, sterilising etc). I will tell you though, that until BB I had no idea about BFing past hmmm 6 months really. I'd never known anyone or to be honest, seen it! Both Elijah and Oskar haven't had bottles. My mother has commented on the benefits, or lack of at Elijah's now ripe old age of 18months, but I don't care, we still BF and it's great! Yesterday at the shops he was having a meltdown cos he was tired, off I went to the parents room and within minutes on the boob zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.:
Can I ask though, why you didn't try? What was it that made you feel that you didn't want to try BFing? It's really great, like others have said, that you, like so many of us, have picked up different ways of seeing things and thinking in different dimensions. There's a lot of very wise ladies here.
I didnt actually say there was something wrong with boys having dolls. I have an 11year old boy who wouldnt dream of playing with dolls at his age and my other son is only 5months old so we havent ran out shopping to buy dolls. Hence, we have no dolls in the house.:
