Question Suddenly tender nipples..?related to ovulation??

    Hi guys!

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this..

DD is bf and we have always been pretty lucky with how our journey has gone, we haven't had any major problems (except the odd sore nipples as we have never been perfectly at attaching) And we both love it BUT! Suddenly my nipples have become really painful and I'm just wondering if AF returning or ovulation may have brought this on. (AF came back a few weeks ago so I'm thinking I might be o'ing at the moment)..

Does anyone have any ideas on whether your cycles returning can cause a bit of tenderness??

    Ouchies..

    Thanks!

(Oh and it's breastfeeding for 8 months today YAY!!)

    Hi Lee
I won't be much help but...I have heard first hand from a number of people who say that baby goes off the breast for a short time when ovulation returns. Haven't answered your qu but thought bubs may not be attaching well hence the sore nipples due to you O???

Possibly. Do your nipples look any different? Red? Are they both affected? Often babies tend to "muck around" a bit when they are feeding - trying a few amateur acrobatics - try to be careful about attachment for a few days. Sometimes solids affect the acidity of their saliva - sometimes mums find it helpful to just gently wife their nipples with a warm wet facewasher after a feed. Hope its all better soon.

Thanks Deidre. Gee I didn't ov might put them off a bit.

Thanks Barb. No, they didn't look any different. Isn't that so interesting about the acidity of saliva, I've never heard of that. Oh! and I so hear you Barb on the acrobatics! Definitely a bit of a problem for us! These babies sure are cheeky

Well it feels much better now so I'm not really sure, but I think could well have been due to Ov.
