    DD not eating

I'm currently tandem feeding my DD 17mths & DS 12days. But ever since my milk come in DD hasn't been eating and even her favourite foods she won't touch or just pick at, is it just a coincidence or because she's filling up on breastmilk? But even I'd she only has a morning feed it will still affect her eating for the rest of the day. Will she go back to eating more? Or is there anything I should be doing? All she ate yesterday was a banana, mandarin and a few sultanas and couple small pieces of chicken and that was all day. Half of banana was for breakfast and the other half at lunch. I offered her more foods then this but this is all she ate.

How worrying for you Em. It sounds like fairly normal toddler behaviour to me - I think most toddlers go through a period of not eating much at all. It might not even be related to your milk changing - it's hard to know because often you never really figure out why they went on a hunger strike. You might like to give it a few days and see if her eating improves. If she is still not eating then, it might be time to look at ways to get more food into her. For now, she's going through the transition of a new sibling, winter which brings on ills, and certainly more and different breast milk as well. It could be any or none of those things, but with any of those reasons it would likely to be a temporary change to her eating pattern. A few days with less food won't do any harm, especially when she's getting nutrients from your milk in the meantime.

How are you managing with two under two. I found that very challenging for a while!

My dd did a similar thing when my milk first came in after ds. She was only having feeds at nap time and bed time, so she would eat breakfast and then just snack. She would barely touch dinner, but then if course would fill up on BM at bedtime.

I don't have any advice because I weaned her when ds was six weeks old because of bad nipple pain (thrush) and then she started eating with gusto!

Breast milk is still nutritionally perfect for her, so don't worry. I would also stick to food sources like bananas and avocados because they have heaps of vitamins and offer carbs and fats and some sugars and protein.

What about some bone broths too? Something with lots of iron and protein, that she can easily eat and digest, she might like dipping some toast in a cup of it?

She won't starve herself, and if anything you might notice her plump up a bit with all the milk. Dd became some cuddly so quickly

Yep, my DD did the same after DS was born. I think she was just so excited about getting lots of (good) milk that food took 2nd place for awhile. Just keep offering and see what happens over time. Because i don't want to increase my DDs feeds again (she is now over 2 and usually has 3 feeds a day), i try to encourage meals before a breastfeed but initially i was just going with the flow abit more because it was such an adjustment for all of us. DD would probably feed all day if i let her since DS was born.
