just wondering how everything was for you today???
Yes how was your night
:happydance: So so happy that you have your beautiful baby in with you now :D I so hope the IV antibiotics do their job quickly and you're out asap!
I know some of the awful feelings you may have been going through with being separated from your baby, as I was hospitalised when my DS was 5 weeks old. I had mastitis develop into a breast abscess and had to have it surgically drained and on IV antibiotics for 2 nights. Those 2 nights, heck even just a few minutes, without my son were awful. So I'm so glad you were able to have yours returned to where he belongs
Hope you got on well last night.
Thanks for all the awesome support and encouragement girls! Without BB I don't know where I'd be.
I'm exclusively BF again :leap: it's hard though-he fussed and screamed so badly last night, it was so awful, I just sobbed. After nearly 40mins straight of him screaming the nurse and I decided to try and give him a syringe of my EBM. He wouldn't have a bar of it, we tried a cup and he didn't want that either. He eventually exhausted himself and went to sleep. I know I sound like an awful mother but I knew if I gave him the bottle he'd never go back to the breast, so I just peservered throughout the night and today. I'm happy to say each feed is getting better, and he is content afterwards so I know he's getting enough mumma's milk.
I'm also taking something (can't remember what it's called and my charts disso'd somewhere) to help with my milk supply, so I think this story will have a happy ending :)
All I can say is when I get home and settled so many rep points will be given out lol.
Thankyou so much  xxxxx
Wooohooo for you! That is absolutely wonderful news hun, so happy for you and your little man
I am still so inspired by your determination and perserverence! Even more so! And no way do you sound like an awful mother! Completely the opposite!
Forget rep points, you rock our world!
Not awful at all, I agree with PP. This is where lots of mamas give in to pressure from ill-informed care givers and well-meaning family who say the baby isn't 'getting enough', when a lot of the time the baby needs to go through a bit of a lean time (which isn't very long, all other things equal) to wait for your supply to catch up to the renewed demand. In your case you had a drop in supply because of this monumental stuff up of the docs, and I see the parallel with women whose supply just needs to catch up with new fussy periods (I still call them 'growth-spurts', um-mah! Then again, I'm not an ABA counsellor or a LC, so I can say what I want :p) before baby is getting enough again. In the scheme of things, an upset and exhausted baby for 12 hours or so is much better off than the same baby missing his cut off and isn't offered the breast again - and it's not an easy feat, so I can understand the resignation of a lot of women if they don't have the supports around them to stick with it.
Monumental effort, Yas - we really, truly mean it! When you get through something like this, you know that future challenges can't defeat you, either
I agree with PP. Your supply will catch up just like it would have to in a growth spurt (is that not the correct term for them anymore?? LOL!) You are doing a great job! I love reading about Mums who overcome the obstacles because there can be quite a few and yours were big ones! But you got through them and things can only get better!
Love your work Yas, well done :) Enjoy breastfeeding your gorgeous baby boy!
Doing a big crazy happy dance!!!!!
You sound like the best mother!!!!!!! you could very easily have just given him the bottle to make the night easier and your probably right, that would have been it. But you stuck it out and have got the best outcome!!! Congratulations!!! Good on you for being informed, sticking to your guns and getting the result you wanted!!!
How are YOU feeling?????
YOU ARE AWESOME! So many others would have given up. And you have been so sick. I say it again YOU ARE AWESOME!
woohoo! thanks for sharing this - you are an inspiration!
Well done, Yas!! I hope today is a better day. Glad you have bub with you now.
I've only just read this, but my goodness Yas you are inspirational! I am ashamed at the advice you were given, please please complain about the ED docs as so mother, BFing or bottle feeding, should be separated from their newborn against their will.
I am so proud of you :) xoxox
You're an absolute inspiration Yas!
Hi Yas, i haven't been on BB for ages and reading your story from start to end made me realise why BB is so great. You were put in a really crap and awful situation and the advice and support you were given from people on here was so great.
You are a doing a fabulous job and your little man is sooooo lucky to have you as his Mummy, as one of the PP said many others would have just given up. I hope you recover really quickly and your BF journey continues as long as want it to. I hope my post doesn't sound condescending, I don't mean it to, I'm just having difficulty putting in to words what I want to say!
anyway all the best and you really are awesome :)
