So, about a week ago, I was laying on my side in bed watching TV with the little ones. DD2 stood up and trod on my breast. It hurt like hell.
Since then it has been sore and DD3 hasn't been feeding from it very long. I have been feeling really tired and run down lately but put it down to AF. Friday afternoon I was in pain on my right breast and had a big, hot, red spot and a noticeably risen lump. I immediately hopped in the shower, started massage etc, everything that has worked for me in the past. Last night however I noticed that there was pus coming out of my nipple. Now I am freaking out. I am off to the Dr today and dreading the thought of it having to be drained. Thanks to my massage & expressing, the lump has gone from walnut sized down to thumbnail size. I'm hoping it might be fixed with a course of anti biotics.
Has anyone been through this before?

No personal experience but from my work experience and what you've described I would say if it's already improving then just try antis and keep going with lots of feeds and massage. some abscesses need drainage but I wouldn't rush into it if it's improving, not huge and you're well.
Oh ouch!! That sounds very uncool! I hope it keeps getting better with some antibiotics and you can avoid having it drained. No experience of abscess though, know how much it hurts when they stand on the boobs though! LOL
Lol, you know your boobs are huge when your kids can stand on them, right?!
Thanks everyone, whilst it still hurts, there is a definite improvement today. I didn't end up going to the Dr today but definitely will tomorrow to see if I will indeed need the anti biotics.
For stubborn lumps I use my electric toothbrush on that spot, preferabl when feeding to free up the lump. Wrap the head in a clean cloth and press into the breast. The vibrations help.
