    ? nipple thrush

    Hi ladies,

I am not sure but I think I may have nipple thrush.

I think, during that heat wave 2 weeks ago, that my breasts became quite sweaty (I usually go braless at home, but was away, so was in a bra and with breast pads on). My nipples feel a bit itchy, and sometimes a bit sore, but not the "agony" I have read that nipple thrush seems to be.

DD did get a bit of nappy rash during those hot days, but it has since cleared up, so her nether regions seem fine, and I have looked in her mouth but can't see any white dots.
But she has been fussing at the breast and very gassy and almost constipated (an quite unsettled too). But I have also been told that BF babies at this age start to go less often, and can go up to a week between poos.

I have been washing my nipples with vinegar and applying Nilstat cream to my nipples (which I had in my drawer from an episode of vaginal thrush when I first fell pg). And I have started taking acidophilis and echinacia.

Is there anything else I should be doing? what about for DD? I don't want to give her - or me - any medicines unnecessarily. Or should I be going straight to the doctor? (who will Know doubt prescribe something regardless of whether I have it or not and suggest formula feeding). Can they swab to test for thrush?

    thanks!

    Hi!!
I thought I had nipple thrush too, my MW and CHN suggested ti get Daktarin cream with zinc, make sure you get the one with zinc, for the rash on my DD's bum... so if your DD gets the nappy rash again, use the cream for 5 days after it's cleared up to make sure the bacteria is gone...

Other than that, just air your nipples, change your breastpads after every feed, take inner health plus and you can also break a capsule and sprinkle that on your nipples, it is completely safe for babies to BF with the probiotic on the nipples... oh and rub a little milk on your nipples after the feed too!

Sounds like maybe you don't have the thrush? Just sore and irritated nipples?
    Good luck!!!
