    *****ly breast?

Hello! As some if you know i'm four weeks into my breastfeeding journey and it's going well. My baby is fully breastfeed despite lots of bumps in the road. Lately however I've noticed an odd *****ly sometimes itchy feeling in my right breast - around the aereoli and just under the surface of the actual breast. This occurs after a feed or randomly. I think she drains the breast properly but I worry because this was the breast I had latch and pain issues with. This is mostly rectified now but the nipple is still healing thus tender so I wonder if it has something to do with this or is it unrelated?

Could it be because it's healing? You know, like a scab getting itchy while it heals.
Do you have stretch marks on your nipple? My stretch marks itch sometimes.
Could they be sensitive to your washing powder/ the breast pads you are (if you are) using.

My nipples itch occasionally, for seemingly no reason at all.

It is not the nipple that feels like this per say though. The nipple is tender yes but this funny feeling is around and under the nipple - in the actual breast both just under the skin and sort of deeper down it feels like. I do have a few very small stretch marks. Could it be the skin stretching? But why only that one breast?

It sounds like letdown to me - I don't itch but I get a tingly almost sore feeling sometimes. I've heard itchiness is another sensation letdown can cause

Even if occurs AFTER feeding? I do not get this feeling during a feed, only ever after.

Oh it could be that thing where the blood in the area gets pulled to the surface while feeding and then after feeding it is a kinda painful tingling feeling?? I cannot remember what it is called!!!

Sorry, by "nipple" I meant the areola. lol

What you're describing sounds like what I get. It hasn't caused me any issues. Maybe just keep an eye on it? Or you could ask your gp or mchn?

I've been thinking about it some more and I think it's residual sensitivity from my initial nipple damage/latch problems. She looks like she's latching well now but the actual nipple and surrounding area is still healing so it's still a bit sore on and after feeding.

Have you heard of Rite Aid Hydrogel Breast Discs? They are truly awesome for soothing sore nipples/areolas. I got mine at Coles.

Oh thanks- i'll try them! My right nipple is sore again and looks like it has a small blister developing as DD chomped on it a couple of times when she was upset before a feed.
