A few weeks ago I was waking at various times during the night soaked in milk, engorged breasts etc as Miss A was slowly starting to stretch out her night feeds. For about 2.5 weeks now she has been consistently feeding around 9pm and then again not until about 3am, and then anywhere from 6am onwards. My supply seemed to get the idea and while I was still very full when she woke for that very early morning feed, I wasn't waking wet/dripping and I didn't hae any painful engorgement.
For the last three nights now I have been woken by the pain of hugely engorged breasts, and last night especially woke up lying in a paddling pool there was so much milk. I know this sounds nuts but a few days ago I posted a thread about when I should express and Maruschke suggested getting up at midnight. TBH I read it and thought great idea because I would get milk then, but wouldn't have a worry about not having enough when Miss A woke, but decided I needed my sleep more so didn't do it. But . . . since then I've had this huge oversupply so have I subconsciously talked my boobs into producing a massive amount for a midnight pump? If its not something as nutty as that, why are they suddenly going nuts? Poor Miss A woke this morning soaking wet from leaked milk working its way across the bed to her and other than the pain, I'm waking freezing cold, soaking wet and have a smelly bed Should I be getting up and expressing to take advantage of it (I don't NEED EBM - its just a convenience thing if I ever need to go anywhere without Miss A), or is that just going to exacerbate the problem further? Is it going to settle down again by itself, or is it my boobs getting ready for Miss A returning to wakeful nights??
that's kinda funny - what clever breasts you have! I imagine they'll get the message with a bit of time, yeah, but you could also relieve the pressure a bit
