DD is saying there's no milk...already! I'm only 9 weeks pg.

HELP! Tonight DD wouldn't feed to sleep. She kept getting frustrated and grunting on the breast and then pulled off and said "no", "no". And so I asked her if there was milk and she said no!

I tried expressing a bit and it was only a dribble. I must admit I haven't noticed a let down in a while (but my let down has gradually decreased in intensity of feeling).

I am only 9 weeks pg and I really wasn't expecting this yet.

She eventually went to sleep hugging my arm, but it took 45 mins (versus a quick 15 min feed).

She is still feeding at least 3 times in the daylight hours and maybe 3 times in the night hours (including feed to sleep at bed and her regular 5am feed) - depending on the night (some nights its 8pm to 5am between feeds).

Should I try offering her more feeds? I feel a bit touched out by the feeds already (due to sore nipples).

    I.am.so.not.ready.for.this!

    oh dear
She might feed through it. My milk disappeared with teh ivf drugs and ds kept going till 8-9 weeks (so 11-12 weeks of no milk), but they're all different.
You're working against biology here I'm afraid, and I'm not sure that more feeds will help too much.... It hurts doesn't it?

I was Bf my Ds3 and was also pg. I found I seemed to have no milk at 10 weeks pg. Ds had been pulling off and getting really grumpy at booby time. He weaned that night I cried.. It does happen but I have also heard if you perservere past those couple weeks your milk supply can pick up again

I have read that as well, that once you get past the troubles you can continue. Have you checked out the ABA site to see if there is any literature on this?

I know exactly how you are feeling! I've fallen pregnant twice bf'ing, DS1 weaned when I was about 36 weeks (he was 15 months old), but DS2 weaned when I was 14 weeks (and 21 months old)! I was hoping that he would continue for longer! Both times I've hoped to tandem feed if they continued to feed. My supply seemed to drop earlier this time and also wasn't feeling any letdown and as you said I felt 'touched out' and senstive. I'd also always feed the boys to sleep and know it's really hard when they stop, I miss those quiet snuggles in the dark as they drift blissfully off to sleep.

Although on the upside I did find that my DH was more than happy to help with the settling to sleep once the night feeding stopped, I think they sometimes feel a bit left out as we have that strong connection with the breastfeeding, almost like they can't help. I know how emotionally hard it is, I hope it all works out for you.
