I am pregnant with bub #3. I have had no luck breastfeeding my other two children. I expressed for 4wks with DD & DS only lasted less than a week before I switched to formula.
I have been to breastfeeding classes, been to lactation consultants, spoken to nurses/midwives, asked other mums I know who have bf'd what their little trick are. Nothing worked for DD & DS.
Thinking about bf'ing again makes me feel really anxious. I feel guilty if I don't try, but remembering how it made me feel, scares me. Having 2 toddlers to care for already, I can't afford to feel any more 'down' than what a new baby already can make you feel (through lack of sleep etc).
Can anyone recommend anything to get me through this???
Hi, if it’s really not your thing - you don’t have to breastfeed! There’s a lot that can go wrong - can you outline what you think the main problem was? what advice were you given and why don’t you think that worked for you?
If it makes you feel better I failed 3 times and then fed my 4th for just under 23 months.
I tried a different hold from the beginning (football hold instead of the cradle one) and I was very anal about getting the right attachment and I would take her off until I knew she was on right.
Your past experiences don't have to dictate the future - I'm proof of that! Good luck
