Question Worried about my weight loss while BFing

I've been sick with the flu for the last 2 weeks. I haven't been able to eat much at all, but have been having hot milo's to try have something in my belly.

I'm only eating very little once or twice a day... yesterday was only 3 pieces of toast, coz I made myself.

Today I've had probably 3 hot chips & am about to have some soup I bought, with toast to try get as much into me as I can, but even then I won't be able to actually eat much.

Only this morning did I realise I've lost weight. My scales aren't always accurate, but they're saying I've lost about 5 kilo's, in only 2 weeks...

I didn't think much about it, coz I've been busy today, but I'm breast feeding DD. I know she takes everything before my body gets anything (I assume thats why the weight has dropped so fast), but now I'm getting a bit worried.

What happens if I don't get better soon... Others are having this same flu for weeks. What happens if my body has nothing left to give & I still can't eat??

I don't know. I know my milk if fine, but I'm starting to worry... Thats alot of weight loss & fast for a breast feeding mumma...

I'm not a big person, so I don't have much weight to lose IYGWIM.

I'm having the same issue atm. I've lost a lot of weight since having DD, and I lost 4kg in one week. Sane as you, BFing, stress and not eating. For myself, I've gone on lite & easy for a few weeks as it's there and easy to have on hand. Another tip people have given me which works really well is to set alarms on my phone reminding me to eat. Might sound silly but it's helped heaps, otherwise I find the day just gets away from me, and before I know it, it's 8pm and I still haven't eaten!

I do that all the time, but I usually have something by lunch coz I have the kids to feed to remind me. Its just coz eating makes me feel sick.

I think I just need the reassurance that we'll both be ok??

They are saying that there is a really nasty cold going around. I hope you start getting better soon. I guess if you keep your fluids up then that is one way of making sure your okay. I say just eat whatever you can and whatever you feel like and maybe a trip to the doctor would not hurt, just for a check up.
My mum would tell me to have a clove of garlic everyday to fight off the cold and to peel and cut an onion in half, out it in a bowl and put it on the floor next to the bed when I go to bed, something about the onion attracting all the bad from you. I don't know but my mum is always on about things like that.

    Another bump?

Heading to the hospital today. Where they'll just tell me to stop breastfeeding.
Hopefully they'll get me some antib's. (I'm guessing by now that I must need them)

Milk wise we'll be okay...body wise I'm not so sure. I have a bit to lose anyway (74kg) so I'm not overly worried yet, but I know you're thinner, and run off your feet with the children etc. So yeah, you do need to take care there hun, you don't want to be passing out or anything
