DP and i went to a store today - and they lady recommended Quan Yin holding a wu lu and a jade wu lu for my handbag to help bring us good fortune i guess you could say.
Would the Quan yin holding 5 children be a good omen?
Now she also mentioned a statue of Quan Lin holding a baby - but I cannot remember if that was for when your pregnant or for ttc?
Does anyone know? Is the Quan Yin i have on my bedside enough or do you think I should purchase the Goddess holding a baby as well? Is there a particluar way the baby should be held?
Quan Yin is a Chinese Buddhist deity of compassion and protection. She is an enlightened being who, rather than transcending out of cyclic existence, has chosen to continue to live on Earth to the benefit of all beings.
Holding the vase of compassion (Wu Lou, or gourd) which usually holds the 'water of compassion' or 'dew of conmpassion' is a representation of her ability to protect and cleanse (using water to clense). This is usually meaning a cleaning of our body and our mind. So a statue of her holding the vase would, I think (meaning, I don't actually know for definite sure), have a clarifying or cleansing property. To meditate on her (the statue) and her messages would be very enlightening.
Quan Yin holding a baby is beneficial for fertility and trying to conceive, and for children, as a source of protection. I have only seen two representations, one where she is sitting with a child on her knee, and another she is standing holding a child in front of her in the crook of her elbow.
My thoughts would be that if you have a personal Quan Yin for your bedside, and she is there to benefit you and your cleansing then purchasing another, then it might be a good idea to get a Quan Yin holding a child positioned in a family room (facing the entrance of the house), for the protection and cleansing of your family.
When we were at the store the lady recommended 2 statues. One was of her holding a baby and the other was of her sitting with a vase. For some strange reason I picked up the one of her holding the vase, not the baby? Coincidence? not sure. I didnt even think about it until DP pointed it out.
