looked at a unit today..tell me what u think

SO i looked at this lil unit today. its 2 bedroom for $265 its ontop of a little cafe in town just down the road from where im living now, its pretty private and quiet( u wouldnt think it would be but it is.

positives
-the 2 rooms have built ins
- just the right size for me and dd
-nice and clean and newish
-its getting insulation put in
- close to home
-private and quiet
-my price range
provided with a drier

Negatives
- it hasnt got a backyard/ just a big verander
- its got stairs
-the verander will need a gate with dd as its up high
it hasnt got a clothes line but they provide a clothes drier and i can get a little clothes line to put up on the verander

tell me what you think???

i got given a form to fill out to apply but im still confused with it? and how i go about it?

The stairs and lack of backyard would be a dealbreaker for me but I have a dodgy back and DD is very active. I'd also be paranoid about the verandah because DD is a climber.

Unless there's a real shortage of 2br places where you are, I'd hold on for something else.

thanks fiona , ive got a bad back too, its sux hay, i asked the agent about if i was alowed to put something up and a gate so dd couldnt get out and she said that should be fine the lady before had a barrier thing up that id just need to ask the owner..its so hard to find anything decent around here especially at that price its so rare.. and the fact its so close to home with me not having my license im soo confused i really need to find a place and theres nothing else any where near that price..

No backyard isn't a huge deal if you have a park which is a short walk?

I just moved into a two bedroom unit above a shop with a closed in verandah and big time steps.... it is working out wonderfully for me!!

As Fiona warned, it can be a deal breaker, but for me the steps are providing great exercise and DD is loving going up and down them with me and the verandah is providing great play space for her. DD is two though so not sure if that makes a huge difference for you.

We moved from a house with a backyard, but the yard was such a mess and impossible to use I never used it! DD sometimes went out there but we make much more use of the park instead. Also, my DD is not much of a climber and is pretty chilled as far as other toddlers go (was as a baby too) so climbing and monkey antics are not such a worry for me.

I guess you have to think about how it is for you with regards to your DD and her personality.

FWIW, living above a shop can be great, can be noisy too (people, bins being emptied etc) I can live with it as I find it a real saviour as a social thing. Everyone around here says hi and knows DD. I find it a really lovely aspect of getting out and it gets me out of the house more than I did before - a definite plus.
