Mel - 30 minute drive from Launceston and near the beach? Are you up out near scottsdale or something?
Its funny - I went searching on seek for any jobs - and there was a job vacancy for a senior architectural draftsman - not in hobart (yay!) and it was advertised by a new zealand company!!
And I'm like - its a sign!!! I was thinking NZ - but really wanna go to tassie - lol.. and craig's like.. "Mel.. we're not people that believe in signs" :rolleyes:

I've been on the sunny coast since 1991 - so lived in Tassie for 14 years, have very fond memories of it :)
We could house swap.. LOL

We looked at Tassie, but now we're selling up and moving in the opposite direction....NT!
Really? Gee I hope I didn't go to primary school with him (having said that, if he's a local my best friend would probably know him!!!):
Well I made DH make some enquiries about that job online.. not apply - just enquiries. A few questions never hurt anyone.. right? hehe
And he's already freaking out because what if he gets it - and I'm like.. well we'll move (duh) and he's freaking about leaving whilst I'm pregnant blah blah blah... I'm not freaked - I know they have hospitals down there (although I would suspect that I would stay up here with my mum and the kids until the new one comes along - even though its a fair while away!!! DH could always stay with a relative of mine down there - I have enough!!!)
I dunno, I think its kind of exciting!! :D
well I have to add my 2 cents haha. NZ is beautiful, but we didnt move there we sold up everything except for 4 suitcases and moved our 2 little men over to perth from NZ! It was the most scary but exciting thing we have ever done. We did have my Bro inlaw in perth so that was something, all our other family are in NZ. We then decided after a year that perth wasnt for us ( we are dairy farmers and went there for something different, but you cant take the country out of kids and they missed it)....... so we packed again, this time we brought it all with us and moved to Victoria!! and absolutly love it. I do have to say we did move to oz for the money as nz does have a low pay rate. But we will never go back absolutly love it here and you do get used to being away from your family,and getting mocked about being a kiwi and the sheep thing hahaha. Although we miss the family all the time they visit way more now we are here and not in perth haha.
1 piece of advice I can give you is dont ever be scared to do anything, you can always come back to what you know. There is no shame it saying it didnt turn out and going back home. Lots of people just dont ever take the chance. :)
Oh man, now I wanna move to Tassie, PMSL:
Tassie girl here (well kind off, spent most of my childhood there and some adulthood). We seriously considered going back to be near family and friends. Almost did take the plunge when I was pregnant with DD1, found the ideal house, but did not follow through. Regret it a bit now, as back then house prices were still good, now they are just plain stupid. We just think the housing is very overpriced now.
Missmoo - are you at Beauty point or somewhere near by? My dad lives down the west Tamar and our family was originally from the Scottsdale area.
My dad's a kiwi (or so he claims - he has never held a NZ passport, but has lived there for more of his life than any other country, go figure) so I have been over there a lot in my life. I poke fun at kiwis more than anyone else in the world, probably, but every time I get off the plane there, I'm amazed when I remember just how friendly they are.
The pay in our industry is slightly better over there than it is here, and the conditions are certainly superior. And I've got family everywhere, so I would do it. As a second choice to Melbourne.
I'm in George Town, Matt and Becca (boys dad and stepmum) are in Scottsdale, Richard the boys grandfather lives in Underwood (out near lilydale) and I have good friends in Beauty Point and Low Hhead lol so we are all over the tamar area.
It really is gorgeous out here. I am SO glad I took the plunge and moved from Hobart. Great place to bring the kids up too :)

We are in Newstead. Love it here. School is a 3 -4 minute walk for the boys.
We used to rent in Buderim and DH worked in Kunda Park.

Ooh nice. I'd love to move near Kings Meadows again cos thats where I went to high school (one of the MANY places I lived down there - scottsdale, bridport, burnie, launceston.. the list goes on and on!!!)
Ahhhh I'm feeling all sad now...
Mel/missymoo we loved that area of Tassie when we holidayed there years ago. We also particularly liked Stanley - on the NW coast. It's our favourite holiday of all time! (Mind you, we went at Xmas and got snow on Cradle Mountain, so I'm not sure how we'd handle winter there).
Mel/Arimeh - we've discussed moving further affield (France or the UK) and nearly went to the UK about five years ago. DP's dad is English and DP has a British passport. We've since talked about going to France when the kid/s are in the upper years of primary/early high school. If we can sell his business at the right time and I can get a good job (which shouldn't be a problem) we'll be going for a couple of years. (We're very jealous of brontide, as you can imagine, at this point!).
So while I wouldn't personally choose to live in Tassie or NZ, it's mostly job-related and I'm totally in favour of a big move in principle!
NO don't feel sad, do something about it :P
