hi i have been told my baby is in breech position at almost 28 weeks & that if she doesn't turn by 36 weeks they will book me in for a c section. my dd was born naturally & very quickly at that but my ds was a surprise breech when i went in after my waters broke they discovered he was breech so i had to have an emergancy c section. i was wondering if anyone else has had they same experience or any advice. also if she stays breech i think they will book my c section for 37 weeks as my babies always come early they wont risk my going into labour naturally & that is only 9 weeks away so i'm a lil nevous & really hoping for a natural birth this time
If you would prefer bubs to choose his/her own birthday rather than taking an automatic CS at 37 weeks, you could refuse the CS appt and wait until you go into labour and then show up at the hospital. They would then do the CS straight away. When I was researching CS v VB for my breech bub, I remember reading that 50% of breech babies turn once labour begins (sorry, I can't recall the source now)... so that's what we did - went in after my waters broke to check his possie. Unfortunately DS had not turned but we gave it a shot!
thanks for the advise but now i am 29 weeks & i am almost 100% sure baby has engaged but in breech posion does this mean there is no chance she will turn since she is already in my pelvis? i have tried searching it on the net but have found nothing. i am hoping she will turn but starting to come to terms with the fact that i will most likly have another c section. has anyone else had an engaged breech baby & if so did they turn?
My DD was breech up until around 37 weeks. Thankfully, she turned without any help.
With second and subsequent babies, they can engage and disengage as far as I'm aware, so I would think you still have plenty of time yet. I haven't read the whole thread, but if it hasn't already been mentioned, check out the spinning babies website.
Good luck!
my DS#2 was breach until 39 weeks he turned himself ( i can remember the day cause it bloody hurt lol) I also went to the spinning babies website worked a treat!
Good luck!!
as for the engaged thing... after your first baby can go in an out alot easier so you will probably find you still have plenty of time for bub to turn!
