Anyone not had morphine for a cs?

I had an allergic reaction to the morphine after my last cs. When I asked the ob about it today (we are considering another cs), she said to discuss my other options with the anesthetist later in the pregnancy.

Anyone know what my other options would be??

In my hospital they dint give morphine anymore. I only had it with my first. My last 2 c-sections no morphine at all. Pain wasnt any worse and I wasn't so out of it. They gave me a slightly stronger panadol, an anti inflammatory like nurofen but slightly stronger. And a slow releasing tablet that for the life of me can't think of the name of.

I didn't have morphine but had pethadine and endone, and then when the pain wasn't as bad just panadol. I'm allergic to codiene so they gave me other things with both of my c-sections

I've had fentanyl used in place of morphine for post surgical pain relief after having insane itching from morphine. I do not know if it can be used in a CS context but it so wasn't a big deal, the anaesthetists have a lot of alternatives to use these days.

Thanks so much girls, I just kept thinking they'd only give me panadol or something!

I also had the awful itching, worst. Thing. Ever. But my main problem was my skin all blistered which caused more pain than my cs.

Thanks for making me feel much better!!

Morphine and I don't get along either. I had a fentanyl and peth block and pain relief last time and ondansetron instead of maxalon.....much better experience for me.

Anyone had morphine for a cs and then something else for a sub cs? Does it take away that hazy drugged out feeling or does that comes from the spinal/epi/shock?

I only had morphine with my first and not the next two. I definitely didn't feel as out of it as I did with the morphine. So it was definitely clearer at least for me with no morphine.

I can't remember what I had but it wasn't morphine!!! Clearly the drug induced haze stayed for a while! Endone maybe?? Does that sound right!?? Whatever the first 24 hour ones were though I was definitely woozy and pretty out of it though.

Yep Kel, I had morphine the first time. That's how we worked out it wasn't good for me. The second time I told the aneasthetist I did not want to feel like that again and got the fentanyl block.....much much better.

i did first csection got a bit sick so next time i went back for 2nd csection i said nothing uless i ask,

only thing i had was the local in spine (not epidural as i also wont have these), so had local for the numbing, once i came out, they gave me one anti inflammaorty which i hear i think is the one to help with your bowels thats it,
i didnt need panadol or anything eiter wasnt in any pain, first time i had sutures i thought they were fine so wanted them again, ended up wit staples, bloody awesome, came out on the 6 day and felt normal again i am stubborn i come home and dont rest bit naughty hubby trys to make me but i just cant sit still, so it as good to not get that pinchy feeling like i did with sutures, cause staples once they are out there is no pulling and tugging feeling
