    Advice re c-section please!

    Hi girls

I just called my OB who has been my OB for Julia and Tara's birth, however unfortunately she cannot be my OB this time as she will be on maternity leave to perform the elective c/s (due to medical complications). I have the options to:

    a) get a new Ob for the whole pregnancy and then performing the c/s
    or
    b) she can be my ob Until Feb and then I will have another Ob to be my Ob from then to June and to perform the c/s

    Which would you choose?

    Im in two minds...

    Thanks in advance!

I would probably prefer to have the same one the whole way through, so you get to build the trust. That said my ob ended up being away for two of my births, one for a c sect and then with ds. The ob on call did follow my ob's instructions and my own ob did my after care.

Tough decision! I remember feeling so upset when the OB I had for DS was on leave when I was pregnant with DD so I couldn't book her!

In your situation, I think I would prefer to choose a new ob, so that I have plenty of time to build a good relationship with him/her.

I was facing something similar with my recent pregnancy, my OB was on leave for the whole month of October (not as long as yours), and I was due on the 30th, but likely to go earlier.
But she knew me and my history and I wanted to see her for as long as possible, and I knew that even if I did deliver before she was on leave and it was her weekend off (as she alternated with her partner OB) I wouldn't be guarenteed she would be there anyway. In the end she did deliver DD2, and I had her partner OB do my aftercare in hospital.

Is the other OB her partner/backup OB? Or is it someone completely different? Would you be able to meet with the other OB earlier jsut to at least be introduced etc?
Tough decision, because I know how important having an OB you trust and who understands you is
    Take care xxoo

I would go to a new OB as I think you would be better with contiunuity so you can build trust and speak to them if you have any issues etc, if you see current OB and then towards end of preg get there fill in you might not gel and like them and by then too late to change OB's.

No reason why you can't make a few appts with a few obs go and see them and then decide who you want.

    Good luck

I'd choose a new OB too so that you can develop a relationship with them. Ask the OB you like to recommend a new OB for you because chances are they will recommend someone they gel with and who you will hopefully gel with too.
