Hey Megan, My scar still hurts sometimes. It's mainly when I'm doing the dishes, the bench is at the same height as my scar, and it kinda hurts as I brush against the bench.
I missed the TT show. Would've been interesting to watch. Don't know if I would be able to do it though.
Nic
Megan - My scar is still tender and I find that if Mark brushes his hand down that way my body automatically tenses up, I also found after I vaccuum clean the house it`s quite sore the day after, it`s a major operation and it takes time to completely heal.
I was another one who missed the show.

Glad to hear that I am not alone with the tenderness..I was starting to think that perhaps there might be something wrong! Since I asked the question in this thread - it appears to have gotten much better which is good.
Megan
Mine was tender for quite a while too Megan.
I did a massive clean of the house on the weekend which involved vacuuming the whole house & I was quite sore on Monday (I did it Saturday). It eased during the day & by the end of the day I was fine again.
Has anyone suffered from pain in the area that the spinal/epidural went into?
This came up in the 1 - 3 month thread, Brooke had a epidural during her labour and I had a spinal block for my c/s. We have both mentioned how it is still quite painful and aches when bending and feels like a bruise. I have had Mark look at mine on a few occasions and he can`t see anything.

Not for me that often but every now & then I think I can feel a bruise! Here I was thinking it was psychological, maybe not hey!
Sympathies ladies to those who are feeling like their back is bruised after an epidural or spinal block. I had a spinal block over 6 years ago and i still cant bear that part of my back to be touched. I have no idea what it is :smt102 I have an appointment with my anaethetist tomorrow regarding spinal block for next week and am so anxious about it...did anyone have it hit a nerve when it was being inserted?? Thats what happened to me and i am absolutely dreading it happening again 8-[
Jo
From memory it felt like there was a bruise there for a little while, and it was a bit tender, and I could feel it if I bent over.
Good luck with your appt tomorrow Jo......hopefully your anaesthetist will be able to shed some light on why that part of your back is so painful still and will ease your fears about next week's spinal block!
Sorry to hear that you girls are having pain....no pain or sensation at all for me!
Hope that it goes well this time Jo...
Megan
I'm the same, Megan. I wouldn't even know where my epidural was put in and I don't think I had any bruising - at least not that I could feel.
Jo - What happened when it hit a nerve? How did your appointment go today?
Sarah - I was thinking it might have been psychological too but when it started hurting when trying to straighten my back after bending I realised this can`t be all in my head as I`d have to straighten very very slowly.
So it looks like a bruised feeling can be a side effect, I wish I`d mentioned it to my OB for my post natal check but I didn`t think about it at the time #-o

I have had no pain in my back from having the spinal block done even when i had Kimberley i had no pain. Could not tell you where they put it in.
Hi girls, I just saw this forum and thought I'd pop in...I see most of you have had your bubs already, Congratulations.....I'm not sure if my post will "fit in" but here goes......
I'm in my 4th month now, and I'm pg with my 4th child.....My 3 boys were all c/s's - planned......This one will be as well...I had uncomplicated births, Michael was placenta previa, which was no big deal, Matt was breech, and Tim was transverse...Just 2 stubborn one's.....This one has to be a c/s because I run the risk if I go into labour of my uterus rupturing.....I'm very happy with this one being a c/s as well, I dont know any different anyway.....
Wow at having your 4th c/s - my mum had 4 as well. I'm planning on having c/s for the rest of my bubs, there is nooo way I'm going through what I did last time.
Hi, of course you fit in here too. You can tell all of your bubs were boys - stubborn little men :)
After having 2 normal deliveries and then having 1 cesa there was no way I was going back for another cesa. Of course this is just me. I would far rather a vag delivery than having another cesa.
I guess after having 3 cesa's the risk to uterine rupture may be higher as after just 1 cesa the risk is quite low.
Take care
Trish
I agree Trish, stubborn and want to do it their way! :D
I would feel the same way as you do Trish, after having 2 natural's. I guess what's in my favour is that I haven't experienced anything else, so I have nothing to compare my c/s's with. The only thing that's a little sad is that I will have had 4 kids, and I have never gone through contractions or my water breaking. Then again from what I have been told with contractions I'm missing out on nothing...lol
Sarah, did you have a rough time with your first bubs?
xx Lisa
Oh yeah, definately a rough time! Alexzander turned posterier about 2 days before I went into labour. Labour started 1pm Friday & everything was going slooooowly. By 7pm Saturday I was 9cm dilated & they expected bub to be delivered within the hour. Nothing happened from there. Finally at 1am Sunday they decided to do a c/s & Zander was born at 1.27am. This is the shortened version, if you're interested the longer version is here.
I'm another who had a shocking time in labour, and won't be doing it again! My OB actually recommended that for any subsequent babies, that I have c/s anyway due to some suspect things about my labour. Jacob was also posterior (he turned during labour!) but my cervix started to swell, so he couldn't get out anyway, plus he'd disengaged himself - the OB couldn't feel his head at all. My labour seemed to go on for an eternity and was quite traumatic and ended up in the emergency c/s. From an emotional POV, I couldn't run the risk of going through all of that again, as I didn't cope with it very well.
I am glad that I have experienced labour though - I know what contractions feel like etc, so I won't feel robbed of that next time around IYKWIM?
Lisa - my Mum had 4 c/s too. She always says she was glad because we all had nice, round heads, LOL ;)
I will be having a c/s next time too. I am the same as you, Sarah. Why go through all of that crap again? Apart from that, my recovery really wasn't all that bad (no having to dip my bits in salt baths from tearing, LOL). So long as the result is a happy and healthy baby, it doesn't matter!
Same Mel - if I went into labour again I would be terrified of the same thing happened & be too scared to deal with everything & end up with a c/s beacuse of it anyway.
wow I cant even imagine what those experiences would have been like...Exhausting comes to mind though...
I've heard so many stories with c/s about how the mums dont get to hold the baby for anything up to a few hours after ect.....With all of mine they were checked and wrapped and handed straight to me on my chest.....I was a little bit blurry eyed trying to look at them at that angle, but I still got my first cuddle.....
I can now see why you all want c/s's after such experiences....
Debbie, I can totally relate to what your mum said about nice round heads!! I also breezed my recovery, the longest I have stayed in the hospital after any of my c/s's has been 3 days.....This one I'm hoping to go home on the 2nd day...
Sarah, exactly to go through all that labour ect and then to end up with a c/s, you might as well just book in for the c/s and relax...
I saw Zander straight after he was born, but then I didn't get to hold him for about an hour. So I'm hoping cos it's going to be planned next time that I get a cuddle first.
I saw Jacob right after he was born, but DH got the first cuddles. Once I was in recovery, I got my first cuddles with him, even though I had a very bad case of the shakes!
OOOOoh I was the same Melinda...the shaking was amazing...DH got the first cuddle but i got him as soon as i was in recovery. :D
Jo
The shaking lasted for about an hour with me Jo....how long did it last with you?
It lasted for 2 hours with me mel...i was back on the ward and still shaking like crazy 8-[
jo
Melinda - I started shaking when I had the epidural put in so I was shakey for about 3 hours. I wasn't too phased by it but Mum kept saying that I felt cold. I had one of those blow-up heat blankets put over me and they kept it on until I got back up to the ward. Looking back, it was a pretty freaky experience but I didn't care at the time.
Sarah - I didn't get to cuddle Gabby straight away either. I will be insisting on it next time. I will also be more gun-ho about BFing asap for a reeeeally long time. I only got to feed Gabby for 10-15 minutes whilst in recovery. Not long enough!
Yikes, Kellie that is a long time.
Wow, Kellie!! Why the delay? That's ridiculous!
Gabby was taken to special care for the night but we got a good couple of hours with her before that happened.
Wow Kellie, that's amazing!!! I would have been pretty upset that I didn't get to be with her if I were you!
I didn't get to hold DD for about 4 hours. They took her back to the maternity ward with DH while they waited for me to wake from the GA. Once I was back in the room, DH bought her in and they put her in bed with me to keep her warm as her temp was low.
One thing I didn't even think about at the time was how DH didn't get to cut the cord. It was a month later on when my BIL and his wife had their first child and the two dads were swapping stories. BIL was telling DH how he got to cut the cord, and I just felt so bad.. Here I was going through all these emotions and I hadn't even given a thought to what DH's expectations and hopes were.
Nic
Geez, everyone's experiences are sooo different.
Sarah was given to me straight away and I had her for 2 hours before they took her to the special care nursery. (Her breathing was too fast and she had some kind of infection.)
I too had the shakes soooo bad! I couldn't believe how strong they were and how I couldn't control it. Not nice!
I have got the bruised feeling in my back where the needle went in. I thought it was because they had to do it twice (see birth story for details) but you guys have it too. I guess it will go away after a while.
8-[
Add another one to that shaking list...I wasn't even aware I was shaking until they handed me the babies each time, and it was like WOA, ok you can take the baby now!! The only thing I really felt was being so cold.....
Geezzzzz Kellie that must have been the longest 5 hrs of your life..
As for getting or not getting bubs straight after delivery, with my last baby Tim, they handed him to me straight away, then my XDH had his cuddle as they wheeled me into recovery... By this time I was sitting up so I got Tim back again, XDH went down to make his billion phone calls and in the meantime they decided I could go back to the ward.....Instead of taking Tim away from me, they put his plastic crib on my bed, and wheeled me down, and I was still holding Tim...We got back on the ward, back into my room and here I am STILL holding Tim.....I was so ****ed off, it was like "ok I've had enough now, someone can take him" LOL..... some mums would have killed to have that amount of time with bubs, proves I'm never happy.......LMAO
LOL Lisa - it's like you got the total opposite!
They asked me if I wanted to hold onto Gabby while they wheeled me back to the ward but I handed her over because I was too scared I was going to drop her or something, LOL. It's a bit of a weird experience holding something so precious when you can't feel the lower half of your body.
Kellie - I was the same way. I just kind of accepted things without question. It's now, when I look back, that I want to know why they did things a certain way. I wish I had had the peace of mind to ask more questions. Next time I will definitely be firing away!:
Being the first child and so overwhelmed by everything that had and was happening i didn't stop to argue.
And here I was thinking 3 hours was bad enough to go without seeing Matthew.
I also agree being my first baby I was totally overwhelmed by everything going on and what we had already been through 4 days beforehand, next time things will be different if I have to have another c/s.
I don`t recall shaking, it just took 3 hours for the spinal block to start wearing off so I could be taken to the ward to see Matthew.
Layla - the bruised feeling I had has worn off, only very occasionally now I might feel something. By the time Matthew was 3 months is when it started feeling better.
Hello lovely ladies!!
I was wondering if I could join you? I am having a caesarean in December at 34 weeks, am very scared about the whole thing. Had 2 before William, who was a vaginal birth that ended in uterine rupture. When they did the repair they cut me up and down, not along the bikini line. I really hated the twins and Lily's caesars but know that this time I have no choice and only want to bring my babies home safely and will do whatever it takes.
Wow girls - I feel very lucky with my c/s experience. I held my baby as soon as he was born - my DH got to cut the cord (at the babies end) and then he went into recovery with Finlay to wait for me to be stitched up. I breast feed him in recovery and he didn't leave me for a second! Sorry to hear that some of you were without your bubbies...
Tiggy - I hope that your c/section goes really well in Dec - hopefully you will pop in before then though!!
Megan
Tiff - I can hardly believe you are already 17 weeks along, the time sems to have flown (for me anyway). Good Luck with your c/s in December.
