CS 11 days ago and it was wonderful!

Hi girls I just wanted to share with you all that I really enjoyed our CS just 11 days ago. The experience was no where near as painful or scary as everyone made out. The spinal was pain free and I never felt a thing. The recovery has even been better than I expected so far. I am still taking it easy though. My bleeding even stopped after about 6 days and on day 8 I was chomping at the bit for some lovin to which we gentle DTD and wow was it great (of course we used protection, in fact there is a packet of condoms in your new mother bounty bag!). The scar is healing nicely and you car barely see it.

My milk came in about day 4/5 and by the day I came home (day 7) I was leaking like a cow and could have put Dairy Farmers out of business. JD sleeps lots during the day and gets about 4 hours of sleep each stint at night. We BF and Formula feed. Formula seems to keep him fuller longer so he gets that at the night feeds and loves his milk!

I am not having any problems bonding, I kissed him and smelled him and touched him as soon as he came out for what felt like an hour but it was more like minutes. But I fell in love and tears fell effortlessly from both my DH and I. DH got skin to skin contact until I came out of recovery so they have bonded really well and as such he and JD are mates and JD loves his dad to bits.

I am so pleased with our decision for a CS. He was a big long boy and he entered the world calmly and without any distress and I feel great for doing that for him. Now we just look forward to every day we have with him.

    Anyways, just wanted to share!

P.S. I was so surprised that I was much calmer going in for the CS than I am going to teh dentist, but I really hate the dentist!

I just want to ask you a question though, and you don't have to answer this at all, but a lot of your concern was that you were told that he was going to be a HUGE big baby (my definition of HUGE is a baby over 4.5kg) and he was far from that, in fact I would call him average sized (based on my own definition), so do you feel a bit ripped off that he wasn't anywhere near as big as they thought he would be? I ask this as a legitimate question, because so many women have a c/s for this reason and I always wonder if you do feel a bit cheated kwim?

I'm super glad you made a decision that you're happy with puppies and that it all went so brilliantly. Good for you and congratulations on your little man.

    Trillian,
Nope not feeling at all ripped off! He was a big baby for my size. His head was wedged very hard in my pelvis and would have most likely ended up being quiet traumatic for both of us if we birthed vaginally. I love my scar it reminds me off the birth of my son and it brings a smile to my face when I touch it and see it (not that you can really see it as it was only 2 stitches and very tidy).

I knew in my heart it was the right choice and I have not regretted it for one second nore will I ever. And the bonding thing is a myth (for me anyway). I carried him for 9 months and there fore bonded with him more during that time than the few minutes it takes for him to enter this world. Knowing he entered the world peacefully without distress makes me feel like I did the right thing for my son and not just tried to birth him vaginally for the only reason to prove something to myself or others.

My son did not have any breathing issues, and was BF straight away, it was just distressing for me when my milk took 3 days to really flow but apparently thats normal for even vaginal births. Now I can squirt people in the eye with the milk production have going.

The only really painful discomfort I had was the trapped wind that took about 5 days to clear my body, but even then it was probably at worse a 7 out of 10 (10 being unbearable). The down part is that I felt useless as my DH took charge of everything and wouldn't even let me change a nappy even though I was up and about. Very early one morning when I rang the buzzer for help changing a nappy the nurse said how come you haven't changed him, I said cause I don't know how, my DH keeps doing it and not showing me. So it was early in the morning that I could only learn these things cause he was at home. He is still a bit like that when we came home but I had a chat to him and told him that how am I going to cope when he goes back to work and I can't even use my breast pump cause he set it up for me. So now I have learnt everything I need to know and God Bless him I think he missed his calling.

I honestly believe that people only feel ripped off when they end up doing a different birth to what they had their heart set on. My advice is to go into birth with an open mind and leave all your options open, be prepared for anything and understand that this is the first thing in your new life that is NOT ABOUT YOU! its about your baby and what is best for them.

    Congrats!

So refreshing to see a positive c/s story - congratulations!
Mine was too, although I was too out of it to hold my poor baby girl. She wasn't placed at all on my chest - instead taken her away with my overwhelmed fiance! He looked like a deer in headlights...lol.

The operation, recovery, etc was no problem.

Hope everything has been on the up and up for you ever since!
