Cs 2 weeks ago and not feeling well.....

Ds is 2 weeks old tomorrow and going great. I've recovered quite well, I'm tired but otherwise have felt fine other than a bit of (tmi) constipation. My scar is healing nicely and I only bled heavily for a few days and since then it's seriously only been spotting or nothing at all. Today though, it hurt to urinate. It was a stinging and burning sensation....like the wee was boiling me! The constipation is also heaps worse and immstarting to feel a bit flu like....achey, cold and a bit weak. It could just be tiredness I guess but the stinging urine worries me. Should I be concerned or is there anything I should be doing or am I totally over reacting?

I'm on my phone so please forgive any spelling mistakes.

sounds like a UTI hun, and the flu symptons could be mastitis if you're feeding

    Yup, a UTI luv.

You can get a drink from the pharmacy called URAL which balances out your urine PH- it should help. Its common to have urination issues after having a catherter (which I assumed you did).
Meanwhile, drink Plenty of water and go see the doc.

So glad bubs is going well luv

Thanks so much for your super speedy responses! The ob specifically said to call if Anything strange happened....but I'm thinking I might try the ural mentioned above.

My boobs feel fine but I'll keep an eye out for mastitis.

I love belly belly, thanks again.

Sounds like you have an infection darl (the burning.. im thinking a urine infection). Head in to the docs and get checked out. Have you stopped taking painkillers? they made me horribly constipated aswell until I stopped taking them. Also.. make sure you dont have any blocked milk ducts/mastitis happening.

I'd call. That's why they earn the big bucks.

Hope you feel better soon. Being sick with such a little bubba is hard.

call chick. The ural will only make your wee more alkaline, not get rid of the bugs.

Not sure about the fever side of it but I would get it checked in case of infection. Constipation after a cs is rough. Your local pharmacy will advise ou on what you can take. As for the stingy wee. Does it feel like it hurts right inside ? I had that and it was from whe the catheter had been in. My mum (whi used to be a nurse) said it sounded like they had nicked my bladder a little. Not cut it but just bruised it or something like that. It hurt a lot to pee.

I would call but it does sound like a UTI, Ural and drinking cranberry juice will help as well, but you may need AB's

Actually it sort of stings/burns on the outside, not inside if that makes sense? I also feel generally burny, hot and slightly itchy down there too. I've never had anything like a uti or any other issues so it's really bothering me. I'll call the ob this morning.

glad bubs is doing well - congratulations.
Since the offer is there and its been only 2 weeks I would call OB. It cant hurt to get it checked out in any case.
But if you hadnt just had a bub/cs etc I would say a UTI. LOADS of cranberry juice will help. xxx

Definitely call him. An infection might need to be treated with something stronger than on over the counter medication from the pharmacy.

I do remember a mild UTI after the catheter when I had DD too. But I'd make sure it isn't more serious, which it sounds like it might be with your other symptoms. Hope you feel better soon.

go to the doctor for peace of mind. sounds like a UTI and possibly thrush also? but a doctor will know for sure. :-)

Definitely seek medical advice. Drinking cranberry juice helps UTI's and it doesnt taste bad either. But being itchy and stinging sounds like thrush. Make sure you drink lots if you are breastfeeding too, as that may be contributing to the constipation as well as any painkillers you may be on. I had awful constipation after DS cos i was bfing and couldnt keep up my fluids (i got dehydrated during the birth and couldnt back on top of it). I hope you feel better soon.
