Hi guys I was just wondering if anyone has talked to the midwives about having a c/s and what their procedure's are both during and after like types of pain relief etc, during your hospital visit/tour?
I am booked into the St Vincent's private hospital in Melbourne and I'm planning on taking a list of questions to ask the midwives when I have a tour of the hospital. It's my 3rd but first baby in this hospital and as I know I'm having a c/s I find there's no actual classes or information on c's. It's a little frustrating when there is so much information and tours of the labour ward but I won't be using it It would be nice to know what to expect regaurding the little things like recovery and baby and options of pain relief etc.
Do you think it's resonable to ask these questions during the tour or should i actually make an appointment with the hospital just to discuss it?
I would start by asking those q's on the tour. If you don't get enough information or are dissatisfied with the answers, then it's worth booking an appointment.
BTW, our public hospital here runs special short CS sessions, since the antenatal classes are geared so heavily towards labour and VB. Seems strange that this is not done every where!
Hi - I asked some c-section q's when I first booked into the hospital, and the midwife I spoke with was really helpful. I didn't do the tour as I've been to the same hospital before, but haven't had a c-section there. I think the tour would be a great opportunity to ask things specific to c-sections at that hospital.
thanks girls! I'm going to start my list of questions and see if I can get some of them answered my my ob and the rest by the midwives at the hospital when I do the tour
I delivered at St Vincents and once a month they hold a lecture called "obstetric intervention" which covers c sections in detail, just call their childbirth education unit to get a list of dates of when the lectures are scheduled.
LOL - I was going to say the same thing Verona! From memory, I think they are held on the first Tuesday of the month. But don't quote me on that! In hindsight, I wish I had gone!
