    Do you know...

How long it takes the internal CS stitches to dissolve?

Mine keep pulling and I'm guessing it's because the scar tissue has formed around them. Just wondering how much longer I'm likely to have to put up with the sensation.

    TIA

I did not have a CS but had internal stitches after DD1. I was told up to 60 days but should be dissolved by 30 days.

Yep what Kazzo said. Depending on the suture material.

Also the "pulling" sensation you have described is very common and may last indefinitely (sorry )

My CS was over 3 years ago and I still get almost painful stretching/pulling sensations...

Depends on the material they used.

Ususally they have dissolving rates as follows like the examples below:

Loss of 50% tensile strength in 14 days. 100% loss in 30 days.

Loss of 25-50% tensile strength in 30-45 days, complete loss in 90 days.

Loss of 25 % in one week, 50% in three weeks and complete loss of strength in 90 days.

It is SO varied and really depends upon which product (and which coating) your sutures are made from.

Do you know which sutures were used?

Iv not had a c-ect but after having a part bowel removal and stoma reversal as a baby then appendix at 17, bowel obstructions from 18 caused by it all, iv got alot of nerve damage and im now on morphine because of the pain. my scarring is extensive though. the pulling could be the scarred tissue huni. x

I think around the 4 week mark that pulling feeling went away when walking and standing. Maybe pop into your GP and get them to have a look and make sure an infection isn't starting .

I remember 1 of my sutures hadn't dissolved at my 6 week check up.
My wound had opened up a bit- and that single in tact suture was visible.
    It was pulling and uncomfy.

The GP snipped it for me, instant relief!

Thanks everyone... I'm fine. I'm pretty sure it's not a permanent thing because I remember having the same pulling thing last time and it eventually dissipating, just can't remember how long it took. I have know idea what type was used. I had staples on the exterior which were removed when I left hospital. These are the internal ones and I get a stinging pulling sensation if I take too bigger step or when I'm trying to get in and out of the car. Funnily enough, I'm getting it in exactly the same spot as I did last time too...
