Passing small clots a week after caesarean?

    Hi all

I had a caesarian last Saturday. After the first night I have only had very light bleeding. I haven't had to use maternity pads at all and the blood has gone kind of thin and watery.

Today after some constipation i have passed a couple of clots... only small but they're the only ones I have passed. Should I worry or is it only an issue if they're large?

Not sure what to do. Keeping an eye on it at this stage but advice would be very useful.

    Thanks!

I remembering passing a few smallish clots after my c/s, I'm fairly certain my Dr said it was normal. I also didnt go through many maternity pads. Did you get given a number on discharge from the hospital to call, like on an information sheet or something similiar with the wards number? It might help put your mind at ease if you call someone tonight.

It is normal for any birth to pass some clots afterwards, but if you pass large clots, have pain or a bleed or feel unwell, give your hospital a call.

Thanks ladies No number that I remember though I will check back through my stuff. Everything is such a blur atm with DD in the SCN because of being premature that I don't really know whether I'm coming or going half the time! I might just pop up to the ward while I'm there today and have a chat to them.

From memory I think it's pretty normal... But if you're even the slightest bit concerned it's well worth asking someone. Popping into the ward is a good idea, otherwise maybe give nurse on call or the mchn line a call.
