Infection after caesarean section - anyone else?

Hi everyone, I'm hoping there might be some other women out there who have had a similar experience to me. I ended up with a c-section a month ago and about two weeks after I discovered that I had a post-operative infection. I have been told that it is superficial (apparently none of my reproductive organs are involved), but I am concerned about the length of time it is taking for this issue to resolve itself. Without going into the grotty details, I have been on two different kinds of antibiotic for just under two weeks, and it is still there. My OB has told me that it may take a few weeks to clear, but surely after having almost completely my antibiotic course things would have cleared up by now? I'm just wondering whether anyone else has ended up with an infection after a caesarean, and how long they took to get over this. I'm considering getting a second medical opinion on this, because I'm worried about how long this is taking - it isn't very pleasant!

Definately seek another opinion, better still, go to the hospital yourself and cut out the middleman. I had an infection and had to go to surgery to have it cleaned out.
I spent each day hoping it would just get better and it didn't, so best to get it sorted asap. Best of luck.

Oh no, that's terrible! The first person who looked at it was a doctor at the hospital as I couldn't get in to see my OB that day. She actually didn't think it was that bad - but then she also prescribed me antibiotics that didn't actually treat the infection at all! Maybe I should try going back and see someone different. Thank you!

I needed at least 2 days of IV AB's, the dr said that oral AB's would do nothing at all.

I had two different sets of antibiotics at the same time - really powerful ones apparently - and it still took a month before I felt normal.
