Need advice on an obs for a c/section - Inner Melb

I'm trying another post in the hope I might get some information (be it favourable or not) for these particular Obs that I have short-listed for what will be a c/section delivery. Before I go out and meet them I'd love to know if other posters have used them for their c/s delivery, or met them previously, or have heard of them through others, and what the experience was like. I have read much about them and am more curious about their c/s experience in particular.

A reminder that negative comments about an Ob is not permitted on the forum, please PM me with any 'additional' info you may have instead.

    Obs List:

    1. Mark Umstad
    2. Peter England
    3. Dennis Price
    4. Lisa Begg
    5. Max Michael

    Thanks in advance !!

As a doula I had a client who had Dennis Price as her ob. I found him to be extremly down to earth and so easy to talk to, nothing really seemed to phase him...though my client did not have a c/s so can't help you with that. Just thought I would let you know that he is a great ob

DD was delivered by c-sec by Mark Umstad. He did a great job. Unfortunately I can't confirm whether he is supportive of elective c-sec but I strongly suspect he may be.

I know Nicola Bryan is very much in favour of VB (someone I know just gave birth - she originally wanted a c-sec but Nicola encouraged her to VB.

My point in saying this is that Nicola covers for Mark Umstad and I believe also works with Dr Lisa Begg.

    Good-luck

thanks livgoesagain. one of my bookings was originally with mark umstad but i've since cancelled as he will be on leave when i'm 38 weeks. lisa begg will however still be present, so it would be interesting to hear whether she is supportive of elective c/sections.

bubby i am going to see Dr How he delivers at FPH and StV's not as costly as some others
the only problem for you would be that his rooms are in Spotswood but maybe worth as an option

    Hi Bubby

I saw Dennis Price for my previous pregnancy which unfortunately ended at 9 weeks with a missed miscarriage in March 09. He was supportive, sympathetic and very responsive througout. I am now 4 weeks along and will be seeing Dennis for this pregnancy also (delivering at Cabrini). I have previously had a c-sec with my son (now 3) as I had a low lying placenta. I will be having another c-sec rather than trying for a VBAC and Dennis is very supportive of this.

Good luck with your pregnancy and I hope you find the right ob for you.
