I was a doula for a lovely couple who have just had their first baby via c-section after three days of labour. The reasons why baby never came down are unclear.
The Dr has told mom and dad that they need to wait three years before having another baby.
They want to have many children and were quite taken aback by this piece of news. I must admit that I'm not really sure how to advise them here except ask for a second opinion.
They will want to go for a VBAC.
Would love to hear what you were told and your experience after c-section. How long did you wait and did you have a successful VBAC?
Many thanks
I was advised to wait 12 months before TTC after my first c-section. I did have a complicated c-section and lost a lot of blood, so the ob really wanted us to wait and to be honest I really did need that recovery time.
12 months is the norm, to ensure the scar has healed properly. Don't know why she was told 3 years, a mum at my mothers group was told 3 months is fine!
I was told 12 months between births was fine for a VBAC by my OB. I was pregnant 10 months after DS was born by c-section and DD was a successful VBAC. We are aiming for a VBAC again this time with 10 months between pregnancies again.
I didnt get my vbac for other reasons, but, DD1 was only 5 months old when I fell pregnant with DS. The hospital and Dr's never had any issue with my scar not being healed and they were very happy for me to attempt my vbac
I had a CS after 14 hours of very difficult labour, spontaneous beginning but bub wasn't moving down, I wasn't dilating, heavy meconium present, 2 weeks past due date etc etc etc. Anyway, I got pregnant again when my DS was 11 months old and had a VBAC. I don't remember being told how long I had to wait. When DS was 11 months old I felt my body was ready and felt my head was in the right place to try for our next (and last) baby. DD was 1 week past "due" date, and approx 4 hours from first contraction to full dilation and then further 2 hours with a forceps assisted delivery. It can be done!
