    Question Exercise/pregancy after c-section/guilt

Hi, I had a emergancy c - section nearly 6 weeks ago, our first bub , all very exciting. Just wondering can anyone give me some advice on exercise, when they started back ect? I was very fit before my pregnancy and during. I did triathlons up until 8 weeks into my pregnancy, I continued to run until 16 weeks, then walk and did pump class twice a week until I was 34 weeks, then just walking. I have been walking since I come home from hospital and have gradually increased pace and distance. I feel good but have some slight pulling every once in awhile, have my checkup in 2 weeks. Also does anyone know when you are able to fall pregnant again after a c - section?

One more question, was anyone not able to hold their new baby straight away after their c-section? I didn't until I returned to my room as I was so nervous I would drop him as I was shaking so much and really ill from all the drugs. I feel guilty to our little man as I never had that initial bonding/skin contact in the first few minutes of his life they want you to do. My husband is wonderful and reassures me he knows who his mum is!!! I also didn't breast feed from 3 weeks, so I feel like we have a less bond from that also.

I have never wanted to go for a run more than when I couldn't after my c/s!
If you were fit before and during your pregnancy then you really don't have to wait very long to get back into it. I only walked until my check up with DS1, but after getting the OK from the ob I started to increase the frequency/ intensity again. I was back playing soccer at 12 weeks post op.
Just a warning that sometimes you can feel really good while exercising but your scar will hurt afterward, so be careful not to go too full on too quickly. Make sure your body is comfortable.

I also didn't hold DS1 straight away. Many c/s mums don't. Try not to feel bad. As much as my vbac was an entirely different birth experience, there really is no difference in how much I love either of my boys, or how affectionate they are towards me. I am sure you are doing a wonderful job and that bond will develop over time.

Oh, and you can get pregnant whenever you like really. But they do suggest leaving about 18 months between labours if you are wanting a vbac.

I waited until after my OB check to return to exercise but after that I was running again at 8 weeks post birth with both girls. Most will recommend an 18m gap between babies but I know people who have less and it is fine.
