Rent a Car??? HELP

So I need a car, badley! Im sharing with my mum atm but its very difficult! I had a Jeep but xDP took that when we split coz it is his. The banks wont give me a loan and my mum and step dad arent in the position to help me atm. I can afford a loan, but the banks wont look at me atm, ive tried

But, Mr next door is going overseas on a extendend holiday till atleast November, and he was just going to park his car (a rather nice ford territory) at a friends. But apparently hes not too keen on doing that. I thought, mabey I could rent his car off him till he gets back. Then he would be getting some income and I would have a car My step dad who is a good friend of his thinks he just might go for it, but im too chicken to ask and he wont ask for me lol.

Then when he gets back mabey ill be in a better position to get my own car and the banks would see money out going from my account every week (I was thinking $100 a week?) and see I can afford it.

He knows me, know's im a good driver (never had any points loss) and I never drive far so its not like its gonna run up the K's.

What do you think? Has anybody done this before? How much would you offer and what would you say?

We have been renting a for the last year from a rental car company, we were paying $210 pw, now $180 pw which covers everything but petrol and tolls.
